Application Information
We are very excited that you are seeking admission to Legacy Christian Academy. It is the desire of our staff to make the application booklet a useful tool in understanding our admissions process. If at any time during this application process, you have questions regarding admissions, please contact our admissions office at 469-633-1330.
Mission Statement
Legacy Christian Academy offers a college preparatory education balanced in academics, athletics and fine arts within a Christian community to equip strong leaders with biblical convictions for tomorrow.
Admissions Policy
Our goal is to grow and develop LCA with strong Christian families. At least one parent must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and believe in Him as Lord and Savior. Each prospective student applying for grades 9-12 must profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and believe in Him as Lord and Savior. Likewise, the student should have a strong desire to be at LCA and have no history of discipline problems. Parents of all applicants, as well as students in grades 7-12, will be interviewed by the admissions team.
Priority of Admission
During re-enrollment period, current students and siblings of currently enrolled students have first priority. Once open enrollment begins in February for the following school year, only an executed contract guarantees enrollment. When classes are full, your child will be placed in the wait pool for that grade. This is not a wait list with a priority listing. When an opening becomes available, the admissions committee will review the wait pool candidates.
Application Process
- Return completed Application for Admissions with all supplemental documents.
- Return the Parent Questionnaire.
- Admission Assessment scheduled and completed.
- Meet with the Admissions team for family interviews. Because each family dynamic is different, our admissions interviews might be multi-faceted. This provides us with the needed insight to ensure each student’s success prior to enrollment.
Admission Documentation
LCA requires a complete application returned to the school in order for us to begin the admissions process. The complete application provides us a view of the student’s strengths and weaknesses which allows us proper discernment throughout the admissions process.
- Teacher Evaluations.
Parents, please give the teacher recommendation forms to teachers at the child’s current school. The recommendations should be mailed, emailed or faxed directly to the school from the teacher. Lower School student applicants should have 1 recommendation from the main classroom teacher and 1 recommendation from any teacher that currently has the student in class. Upper School student applicants should have 1 recommendation from an English teacher and 1 recommendation from a math teacher.
- Birth Certificate, health records and current immunizations.
These documents are needed to make sure the student meets all legal requirements to enter school in the state of Texas.
- Report Card or Current Transcript.
A current report card (K-8) or a current transcript (9-12) should accompany the application. This helps us understand the current academic program the student is engaged in and allows us to make the best decisions on academic and class placement.
- Standardized Test Scores.
Please submit the most current standardized test scores for each applicant.
Assessments
The goal of the assessment is to help us gain information pertaining to the student’s achievement and ability. These assessments are widely used in private schools and students should be encouraged to give their best effort so that we can have an accurate picture of the applicant.
Statement of Faith
Legacy Christian Academy is a non-denominational evangelical school. It is important for each of our families to understand and agree with the basic biblical standards that the school is based upon.
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God, inerrant and authoritative, without error in the original writing, and that it is the divine and final authority for Christians.
Examine these Scriptures: II Timothy 3:16; Psalms 119:105, 160, 12:6; II Peter 1:16, 20, 21; Proverbs 30:5.
We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in Three Persons.
Examine these Scriptures: Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 2:22; Psalms 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary; we believe that Christ shed His blood on the cross, dying for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice, and that He arose bodily from the grave and ascended into heaven; we believe that man finds salvation only through faith in Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.
Examine these Scriptures: Matthew 1:22,23; Hebrews 4:14, 15; Acts 1:9-11; Isaiah 9:6; I Corinthians 15:3,4; I Timothy 6:14,15; John 1:1-5; 14:10-30; Romans 1:3,4; Titus 2:13.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity, equal with God the Father and God the Son; He indwells every believer from the moment of salvation and empowers the Christian for godly living.
Examine these Scriptures: II Corinthians 3:17; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 5:18; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Galatians 5:25.
We believe that all true believers from the day of Pentecost until the Rapture are members of the universal church regardless of organizational affiliation.
