Home of the 2011 TPSMEA State Champion Marching Band
Beginning in the 6th grade, Legacy Christian Academy students will have the opportunity to accept the challenge and the honor of becoming members of the Legacy Christian Academy Band Program. Students will be introduced to and instructed in brass, woodwind and percussive instrumental music and disciplines at the same high standards and expectations Legacy Christian Academy students and parents come to expect from our school.
The LCA Band Program is comprised of three concert bands: 6th grade Beginning Band, Jr. High Concert Band and High School Symphonic Band, Marching Band and Winter Guard. The Eagle Marching Band was founded in 2007 and continues to grow. The LCA Marching Band was named State Champions at the TPSMEA State Marching Band Competition for 2011-2012. Prior to this achievement, the LCA Marching Band placed 2nd at the TPSMEA State Marching Band Contest for the past three years. The Marching Band has traveled to Orlando to participate in Disney World’s Magic Music Days. Legacy’s Winter Guard was founded in 2008 and competes through NTCA (North Texas Colorguard Association) in the Regional A Class across DFW during the months of January, February and March. The LCA Bands are members of TPSMEA (Texas Private School Music Educators Association), ATSSB (Association of Texas Small School Bands) and TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association). Legacy band students have earned chairs within the ATSSB All-Region Bands, TPSMEA All-State Band, TPSMEA Jr. High Honor Band and the TMEA All-Region Bands. LCA’s concert bands have been the recipients of superior division I ratings at the TPSMEA Concert and Sight Reading Contest. Band students of all levels have the opportunity to participate at the annual TPSMEA Solo & Ensemble Contest. Annual performances for the LCA Bands include a Christmas Concert, Spring Concert and the TPSMEA Concert & Sight Reading Contest.
Legacy Christian Academy has an extensive and talented studio of private lesson teachers. LCA private lesson teachers are devoted Christian musicians with university degrees in music. Each teacher performs professionally around the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Many perform and tour the United States in professional groups periodically throughout the year and during the summer. The LCA private studios offer lessons in piano, voice, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium/tuba and percussion.
