Visual Arts
Legacy Christian Academy recognizes the importance of a Fine Arts education in developing a well-rounded student. God has given everyone the gift of expression and students love expressing themselves through the creation of their very own pieces of art. The Fine Arts department at LCA encompasses four quality programs: Visual Arts, Band, Choir and Performing Arts; within each the following can certainly be said: The Arts enrich and are enriched by the other subjects.
- The Arts promote creativity, thinking, and joy.
- The Arts offer different ways to make meaning.
- The Arts reflect and influence cultures.
- The Arts promote aesthetic literacy.
- The Arts prepare students for full participation in society.
The curriculum is a blend of art history, art appreciation, and studio work. Students in Kindergarten through 5th have art classes once a week. Students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to take art classes 5 days a week.
The Visual Arts Department is a member school of both TAPPS (Texas Private and Parochial Schools) and ACSI (Associated Christian Schools International). The students, K-12th grade, participate and enter various competitions through out the year including: The Collin County Student Art Show, District and State competitions with both TAPPS and ACSI. The students have received state wide recognition for their art with many Best of Shows, Gold Medals, Silver Medals and 1st and 2nd place awards.
