Megan Beck Full Bio

Megan Beck is the daughter of Larry and Sheryl Beck and has attended Legacy for 14 years. She has participated and lettered in multiple sports during her years at Legacy as well as stayed involved in student council, LSO, and SALT. She was a member of the Chamber Choir her freshman and sophomore years and was part of the All Region Choir. Megan enjoys serving fellow students by leading Bible Studies on Friday mornings. Megan is a part of the National Honor Society and has kept her GPA above a 4.0 throughout her time in high school.

Megan’s first glimpse into volleyball began in 8th grade when she decided to try out for a new sport. Although she had never touched a volleyball prior to that time, she played as a setter and earned MVP of the year. Her freshman year of HS, she started on the JV team, but was moved up to Varsity before district play. She was very successful playing middle her first three years and twice achieved the title TAPPS Blocker of the Year as well as first team all district and an academic all state award. During the off seasons, her sophomore, junior, and senior years, Megan played club volleyball at the National Level. This strengthened her volleyball skills and techniques and reassured her love for the sport. Megan was voted co-captain both her junior and senior years in volleyball. Prior to her senior season, Coach Williams told Megan they would need a setter so Megan began training to switch to a new position, as well as playing right side. She wanted to do whatever it took for the team to get to playoffs. This new role as setter opened up new opportunities in her college search, as Megan is now committing as a setter. She was offered several scholarships, but chose John Brown because of the Christian atmosphere, incredible coach and a like-minded team that is ready for her to jump on board. Megan plans on studying Education and Christian Studies, so that she can become a Bible Teacher and influence lives by teaching apologetics.

Megan’s favorite memories include: Coach Pevehouse’s famous victory song after their playoff win, the road trips for sports, going to the State Football championship with her brothers, as well as the pre-season volleyball retreats. Megan hopes to be remembered as a leader on and off the court and someone who has left an impact on others. Megan’s advice to underclassmen is to make the most of all your memories at LCA and build relationships that are meaningful. Never change who God intended you to be! Megan is thankful for her parent’s wisdom and advice as well as all the coaches that have left an impact on her. It is through these coach’s guidance, encouragement, and leadership that she now has the opportunity to go play at the next level.

Lacy Sheldon has been a golf standout on Legacy Christian Academy’s championship golf team since her freshman year, having earned the Varsity Golf MVP award each year. She finished second (after a playoff) as a sophomore in individual standings at the 2014 TAPPS 3A state golf tournament and followed up her junior year in the larger 4A division with an individual 3rd place standing (out of 48 girls across the state), shooting an impressive 1-over par 145 (72-73) helping lead LCA’s Lady Eagles to their second consecutive state golf title. Lacy has 2 individual LCA district champion wins under her belt (freshman and junior years) along with numerous top 3, top 5, and top 10 finishes across Texas, including capturing the individual title at the Starburst Junior Golf Invitational and a 3rd place finish (out of 33 girls across Texas and Oklahoma) against older DI and DII committed players at the 4-day prestigious Texas-Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament in Wichita Falls, TX carding an impressive 303 (77-74-76-76). Lacy, along with her LCA teammates, will compete this spring in her final high school season with a goal to capture a third consecutive state championship title for LCA before suiting up for the University of Montevallo Falcons in Alabama next fall.

The University of Montevallo’s women’s golf team is the reigning NCAA DII Peach Belt Conference champions and is currently enjoying their highest Golf Stat collegiate ranking in program history (Ranked 12th out of 177 Universities). Coach Justin Pratt has been recruiting Lacy for almost 18 months and is excited that she has decided to become a Falcon and an important part of their program. In Lacy’s scholarship offer, Coach Pratt said “I know you will be a great fit not just because of your talent as a golfer but also because of the kind of young woman you are.”
