We are eager to have Mrs. Betty Thornton join our Upper School faculty as the 9th and 10th grade Spanish teacher.

Born in Managua, Nicaragua, Betty Thornton is a native Spanish speaker with a teaching background that ranges from teaching introductory Spanish to Pre-K students, all the way up to adult conversational Spanish. For 9 years, Betty has taught high school Spanish at a variety of levels including Spanish I, II, and III and had the honor of leading a group of students to 5 gold medals at the Pan American Student Forum Competition. Betty has her B.A. in Spanish from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Betty has been married to her husband, Mike, for 13 years and has helped support his corporate fitness business and motivational speaking career. They have 2 beautiful children, Thomas and Beatriz, both of whom attend LCA and are extremely proud eagles. You can find them all regularly around the kitchen table for family game night. Having been raised in the Catholic Church, Betty has known Christ for as long as she can remember. She and her family attend St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco. She is passionate about serving others, spending time with her family, and exercising regularly.

“I love witnessing the ‘light bulb' moments when a student begins to grasp a new language, finding moments to incorporate laughter into a lesson, and making a foreign language more than something we speak,” responds Betty when we asked what three things she is most excited about for the upcoming school year.
