One School, One Family:
The Special Distinction of a Covenant Christian Community

At Legacy Christian Academy, we have built and nurtured a community that lives its purpose and shares its values in faith. As a covenant Christian school, and our students benefit from that distinction each and every day.

But what makes a school a covenant community, and how does Legacy Christian Academy live the promise of that label?

During his inaugural address, new Legacy Headmaster Bill McGee spoke with students and parents about what being a member of a covenant school means – to our families, to our community, and to our individual relationships with Christ.

Here is what makes Legacy Christian Academy stand out as a flagship example of a covenant school:

We bring Christian families together with intention and clarity.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Hebrews 10:24)

In a covenant community, members support each other, worship together and provide the guidance each person needs to strengthen their faith.

Since its founding, Legacy has identified as a school that serves Christian families. This means that at least one parent in each family has a personal relationship with Christ. And because all families, faculty and staff in principle share this common bond, Headmaster McGee says:

“A covenant school enjoys more clarity in its mission, and can be more intentional and unapologetic in its integration of faith and learning.”

Our community is characterized by trust, respect and recognition of shared goals and values.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:6)

In a covenant school, students, families, and members of the faculty and staff work together to establish, strengthen and perfect the community. Headmaster McGee explains:

“I recognize my responsibility in making this partnership work, and that I am fully committed to making it succeed.”

Our relationships are sealed by promises, not legal obligations.

Each member of a covenant community must make the continuous choice to support and strengthen their relationships within it. As Headmaster McGee states:

“God made covenants with his chosen people; he did not execute contracts with them. … A covenant relationship is richer, deeper and more permanent than a contract.”

Our school and our families acknowledge the importance of forging a strong, unified partnership that acts in concert.

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?' Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.' (Matthew 18)

The partnership component of a covenant community is a unique characteristic that must be protected and respected. Headmaster McGee says:

“In a covenant school, problems and conflicts should be resolved by forthright reasonable discussions, where the partners seek a resolution that is mutually beneficial to all concerned.”

As the pastor, or shepherd, of the LCA school community, Headmaster McGee's goal is to strengthen the covenant partnership already established within our walls. But this goal is only attainable if both our school and our families work together.

For that reason, we have created the Legacy Christian Academy Covenant Community Pledge, a proclamation on behalf of the school community, and adopted by our student's families, to ensure our covenant community thrives.

Legacy Christian Academy is Frisco's only PreK-12 Christian school committed to educating students in a college preparatory environment balanced in academics, athletics, and fine arts–all within the context of a biblical worldview.
