Legacy Christian Academy Lower School was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2016 by U.S. Secretary of Education, John B. King, Jr., for outstanding academic achievement in the Lower School. The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements in closing the achievement gap.

“National Blue Ribbon Schools are proof that we can prepare every child for college and meaningful careers,” King said in a video message to honorees. “Your schools are on the cutting edge, pioneering innovative educational practices—professional learning communities, project-based learning, social and emotional learning, positive behavior systems—making you shining examples for your communities, your state and the nation.”

“Being recognized as an Exemplary High Performing School is an honor that we cherish and a testament to the covenant partnership we have forged with our parents, teachers, administrators and students,” shared Bill McGee, Legacy Headmaster. “We are proud that our commitment to academic excellence has been rewarded in such a worthy manner.”

The Department of Education will honor 279 public and 50 private schools at a two-day awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. later this year. In its 33-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on more than 8,000 of America's schools.

“I am thrilled to receive the 2016 National Blue Ribbon Award on behalf of our school,” said Mrs. Kerri Rhodes, LCA Lower School Principal. “The Blue Ribbon flag will fly as a daily reminder of the efforts of our students, teachers, and principals, past and present, toward building the strong program and community we enjoy today.”

Legacy Christian Academy is Frisco's only PreK-12 Christian school committed to educating students in a college preparatory environment balanced in academics, athletics, and fine arts — all within the context of a Biblical worldview.
