Recently, our Varsity Boys Soccer team had a tournament in Houston for their first action of the season. The tournament lasted November 18th and 19th and created a good learning experience for the younger players on the team. Although it remained a one goal game until the final seven minutes, the team lost their first game against Houston Christian 4-1. The boys bounced back however, with a 2-1 win against Christo Rey led by goals from Gavin Burgess and Pablo Hernandez. This game was followed by a 1-1 draw against Katy St. John XXIII which knocked us out of the tournament because of losing the tie-breaker.

“It was a good learning experience whether you got playing time or not. We came together as a team, and we are a lot closer group of guys now,” said Cubby Bixler, Varsity Junior.

Being a player on this team, I can say that this was a good experience for all of us and we became closer on and off the field. We came back from this tournament, and that following Monday we played our first regular season game against Denton Calvary. We dominated in a 9-1 rout that saw 4 goals from Gavin Burgess and 3 from Holt Kelley. Our next game is Tuesday the 29th at home against Dallas Lutheran. Kickoff is at 6. Come out and support us to victory!
