The Visual Art Department at Legacy is celebrating our being named the #1 Art Program in Texas and the #2 Art Program in the nation!

Celebrating Art!, an international student art contest sponsored by Blick Art Materials, offers the opportunity for students to win awards and have their artwork published in an anthology of top artwork K-12. In the past 15 months, nearly 180 pieces of Legacy student art has been published. In the past three rounds, three students were ranked in the Top Ten and another 22 recognized as being among the Top 5%. Finally, with 57 invitations to publish, the Legacy Art Department is ranked as a Contest Star, among the finest public and private schools competing in the Fall 2016 Contest.

I never get over the thrill of watching a young artist receive recognition for their work. I tell them everyday what excellent pieces they are creating, but you can tell it means so much to have an outside judge confirm the exceptional quality of their work.”
-Lin Mayberry
Intermediate School Art Instructor

Every student in the visual arts program works together to help one another succeed, and every artist shares in this achievement. Abbey Benavides, Haley Phillips, Brynn Warren, Trenton Balcombe, Benji Brewer, Cole Eisenmann, and Alexa Breedlove-Priestley share a special distinction; having been published in every edition since Legacy began competing last year. High commendations also go to the current 57 intermediate students invited to publish in the current contest, and our best hopes along with everyone's best efforts already look forward to the Spring contest.
