The Eagle Baseball and Softball teams emerged victorious in Legacy's Matt Clark Classic held March 2-4, each team winning their individual tournament. This was the fifth year for the Matt Clark Classic baseball tournament, and for the first time, the tournament expanded to include softball. “The pitching staff gave up three runs the entire tournament,” notes Coach Andrew Embry, varsity baseball coach. “Sophomore, Grant Martin, threw a no hitter, combining for a great finish to the tournament,” boasts Embry. Senior, Collin Reiter adds,

My last Matt Clark Classic was great. The best part was combining with Grant for a no hitter in the championship game.

The Varsity Softball team swept their bracket, winning the championship with an undefeated tournament record. Coach Branch said, “The girls took home the Championship trophy; Kristin Guzak won the All-Tournament award and Gabi Langille was named the tournament MVP.” The girls are all very excited to come back from spring break and prepare for district. Senior, Gabi Langille, says, “Winning the first ever Lady Eagle Matt Clark Classic was a huge accomplishment. Our team played really well, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.”

We want to congratulate both teams for a successful tournament and cannot wait to see what they accomplish throughout the rest of the season.
