Legacy's first-ever drone teams made their contest debut last weekend and brought home the championship! Team 1, who finished 3rd in engineering design and presentation, consisted of Lauren Fraley (9), Josh Phillips (10), and Connor Escobedo (10). Team 2, who placed 1st overall out of 21 teams, earning 1st in engineering design and presentation and 2nd in the drone race, included Hannah White (11), Jerry Lin (10), and Tian Lei (9). Caroline Hidalgo (12) served as engineering advisor for both teams.

I am thrilled for our kids and the success they experienced in their first year, and I am confident that Legacy's teams will return stronger and more formidable next year”
–Mr. Preble, Upper School Science Teacher.

The drone competition consists of students designing their own unique drones and then using computer-aided design software to race the drones against the other team's drone. Additionally, each team had to create an engineering presentation board and a PowerPoint presentation. Along with an Engineering Advisor, teams are comprised of a team leader, a drone flyer, and a team player, all under the guidance of teachers. This year's drone teams were sponsored by Upper School science teachers, Mr. Preble and Mrs. Spencer.

By challenging the process, our teams successfully adapted to the difficulties we encountered throughout the competition”
–Caroline Hidalgo, Drone Engineering Advisor

Mark your calendars now, as the drone teams will compete next fall on October 14, 2017 at Prosper High School.
