The Legacy Lady Eagle Varsity track team made history this season by finishing in 5th place at the TAPPS State track meet in Waco, Texas. The highest in Lady Eagle history! The girls medaled in all three relays, the 4×100 (2nd), 4×200 (1st), and 4×400 (4th), and they own the Legacy records for each. The team of Amanda Savoy, Zoe Montes, Bradyn Tuite, Kailey Luiken, and Ale Rutenis set high marks for the future track teams.

I loved going to State. It was an amazing and nerve-racking experience. I knew we would be competitive, but winning the 4×200 and medaling in all three relays made for an exciting day! It was an honor to run with these girls.”
–Kailey Luiken, Sophomore Varsity State Member

Prior to State, both teams competed well at Districts, where several athletes qualified for regionals. The boys 4×400 relay team, composed of David May, Poston Brandon, Josh Brewer, and Ben Hamilton, advanced by finishing in the top four. Although the Varsity Boys did not qualify for State at Regionals, the season as a whole was successful. In addition to the Lady Eagle relay qualifiers, Amanda also qualified for regionals in the long jump and 100 hurdles taking silver, and Kailey qualified in triple jump.

I've gotten used to the talent these ladies show, so to me it's just another day at the office!”
– Skip Lane, Varsity Track Coach

The Ladies are young and have already starting to working toward next season. The commitment they show has been noticed by many, and they have started something contagious where other young ladies have joined in to work hard and strive to be better athletes.
