Welcome back to Legacy, Michelle Rogers, our new Upper School math teacher. Michelle is returning to us after six years working as a full-time mom. She previously taught at Legacy for one year, Prestonwood Christian Academy, the University of Louisiana at Monroe, and a Louisiana public high school.

Michelle has stayed involved in education while away from Legacy by volunteering to lead math enrichment activities in her boy's (Dylan and Colin) elementary classes. She and her husband Blake have also worked together to develop a number of educational iOS apps.

When asked what she likes most about teaching, Michelle replied, “I love those moments when the students are truly engaged in the lesson, and you can literally see the learning happen… I just love being part of a school community. It is something I have missed. I love getting to know new students every year, and I look forward to making new teacher friends. No one understands a teacher, like another teacher!”

When she isn't in the classroom, Michelle and her family love to travel. They took an Alaskan cruise this summer (pictured above) and enjoyed hiking 8 miles to the Laughton Glacier in Skagway. Although she and her family are originally from Monroe, LA, they now consider Frisco “home.”

Welcome back, Michelle!
