Legacy Christian Academy celebrated the opening of their new, 32,000 square foot state-of-the-art, high school building January 4. A frenzy of excitement filled the air as the State Champion LCA Band led the LCA family of parents, supporters, students, faculty and staff to the entrance of the new building where the ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony took place.

Dr. Harmon, Headmaster at LCA, opened the ceremony followed by Mr. Ronnie Littleton, High School Principal, who led the prayer and dedication of the new building. With much excitement, those cutting the ribbon moved into place. The ribbon cutters included four seniors who started at LCA as kindergarteners when it opened in 1999, Seniors Aubrey Allison, Nic Kiernan, Parker Todd and Patrick Tomeny, as well as two faculty members who have been here since the school opened, Mrs. Sandra Clark and Mrs. Lin Mayberry. As the LCA fight song played, the ribbon was cut and a cheer arose in the crowd.

“This is an exciting day for our LCA family; the opening of the first phase of our high school building. The high school incorporates our computer-enhanced learning environment (iLegacy) into the design of every classroom. Since our students have class in a 1:1 laptop learning environment we designed a building that would meet the technology needs of our students and staff,” said Dr. Harmon. “We have integrated technology into our curriculum at all grade levels, preschool – 12th grade, to provide our students a broader platform for learning and to prepare them for college. With this new building, we are well-prepared to accommodate the demand we are seeing for a private, Christian education.”

Construction of the new high school building began on Legacy’s 32-acre campus less than a year ago. The building has been funded through the generous gifts of donors, some as young as 4 years old. Additional phases to be constructed include a Fine Arts Center and additional instructional space.

“It is exciting to see the new high school building completed. The Lord has truly blessed our Legacy family with the addition of this incredibly beautiful new facility. The faith and vision of the parents of Legacy is the main reason we are at this point in the history of our school,” said Mr. Ronnie Littleton, High School Principal.

The journey to this special day began more than 13 years ago, long before Legacy Drive or Stonebrook Parkway were paved, the founding families met on the property riding all-terrain vehicles on the site that would eventually become Legacy Christian Academy. Their desire: to honor God and provide a place for students to receive a Christian education.

January 4 will long be remembered as a special day in the history and heritage of Legacy Christian Academy. While some students finish out their senior year in the new high school, others will just be beginning their high school journey. Even more LCA students await the day when they “finally get to high school.”

“Legacy has been honored in many ways. I look forward to seeing our students matriculate to top tier universities so that they can come back to North Texas and impact our community in positive ways,” said Dr. Harmon.
