New campus. Same Mission. One Legacy.

Curious about Legacy Christian Academy's new Early Learning Campus?

The LCA Board of Trustees and Executive Leadership Team are excited to announce that Legacy Christian Academy has acquired a new Early Education facility off of Lebanon and the Tollway, four minutes from our current campus. In order to realize our vision of being the school of choice for committed Christian families in North Texas, we have been prayerfully considering options to expand our Early Education program as we aim to meet exponential demand. Our heart is to provide a top-tier Christian education to our youngest Eagles in the best facilities possible, and we are confident we will be able to do just that as we move our Pre-K3– Junior Kindergarten students to this new location in the fall of 2022.

New Early Education Facility:

As of Thursday, March 24, 2022, we have closed on a beautiful campus, located at 6600 Lebanon Rd., near the entrance of the Starwood subdivision. This property includes a customized facility designed specifically for early childhood learning and far exceeds the current space in which we are currently operating. The 26,000 sf building sits on almost three acres of land and contains fourteen classrooms that are fifty percent larger than the classrooms in our current Early Education hallway. The classroom flooring has both hard and soft surfaces to accommodate discovery centers, arts, and crafts. Most of the classrooms have both child and adult restrooms with external hand-washing stations. The building houses a library, technology/robotics center, music room, gymnasium, health clinic, laundry room, and a catering kitchen. While outdoors, students can enjoy expansive, secured playgrounds, a greenhouse, and garden areas. The entrance is protected by a portico and the building is wired for security.

God is good! I could not be more overjoyed for our littlest Eagles and their teachers to be on this amazing campus! This facility and its comprehensive amenities are a perfect fit for our LCA community. With the enrollment explosion we are seeing in early education, this new facility will allow us to minister to even more little ones in North Texas and teach them at a young age about Jesus. I am excited that the Lord has blessed me with the opportunity to lead our Early Education program at this location next year! I know the Lord is guiding our steps in this process.

Why Now?

We believe this facility is an outstanding addition and resource for LCA. After prayerful consideration, we wholeheartedly believe this is another chapter in God’s providence for our school.

This new space benefits our entire community in many ways. As you may know, Legacy is experiencing unprecedented growth, with increased demand for admissions in all divisions. For the 2022-23 school year, we already have wait pools in Pre-K3, Pre-K4, and we expect to reach capacity in Kindergarten soon. We are also approaching full enrollment in grades 1-4, with no additional classrooms available to create new sections. The relocation of our Early Ed program (approximately 140 students) to this new campus will immediately free up ten classrooms, which will allow us to add additional sections in both the Lower and Middle Schools, thus relieving some pressure on these divisions. We also anticipate that this move will greatly improve the before and after-school traffic congestion on the South Campus. Ultimately, we will have the opportunity to serve more Christian families well, and ensure that our Early Education division is positioned to be a top-tier program in North Texas.

From a stewardship perspective, the additional revenue generated by increased enrollment in lower grades allows the school to take advantage of economies of scale. The Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees has calculated the operating expenses and cost of financing this facility and is confident that the additional revenue will more than cover the expenses. Furthermore, purchasing an existing facility is 40% cheaper than new construction.

When Does This Happen?

We closed on the building on Thursday, March 24, 2022, and will officially open the building for the new school year in August.

FAQs

When will we be able to tour the facility?

We will host an open house for all current and prospective Early Education families soon after taking possession of the building in April. Please view the linked video for a glimpse of this beautiful campus and impressive facility.

Who will lead this campus and what will the staffing look like?

We are pleased to announce that Lower School Principal, Tiffany McCollum, will serve as the new Principal of this campus. Mrs. McCollum has many years of experience leading preschools and is excited about the opportunity to grow and develop this new division. She will be assisted by an administrative assistant/receptionist, a nurse, and security officer. Our Lower School Counselor, Kristin Gordon, will serve both campuses, and our future Lower School Curriculum Director will also serve both campuses. Furthermore, we will be hiring additional specials teachers for this division.

What grades will be located on this campus and what is the full capacity of the facility?

Grades Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4, and Junior Kindergarten including corresponding Spanish Immersion classes. Given our current class-size limit and our current student-teacher ratios, we project maximum capacity to be 258 students with an anticipated enrollment of 200 students in the first year.

How will drop-off and pick-up work if I have students in multiple divisions?

We will schedule start and end times to accommodate those who navigate two campuses. We will continue to offer a 7:30 am drop-off for both campuses. Travel time between the two campuses is 3-5 minutes.

What extended care options will be available for my student at this location?

We will continue to offer Legacy Extended Care (LEC) on this campus. We are exploring a summer care program as well.

Will Early Ed parents and students enrolled still have the opportunity to interact with Lower, Middle, and Upper school students and families?

Absolutely! LCA may have multiple campuses, but we are one school. Early Learning students and families will have the same status, benefits, and access as all LCA families. Students and families will still participate fully in campus-wide events such as Homecoming, PTF Activities, Bible studies, Laps of Love, pep rallies, and cross-campus student interactions, including student interns.

How will lunch and snacks work?

We will provide nutritious dry snacks. Our lunch plan is yet to be finalized.

What security measures are planned?

We will provide the same level of security for all our students, regardless of location, including an armed security presence, campus-wide security cameras, man-traps, and visitor check-in protocols.
