The Screamin' Eagle Band recently took first place in a competition with the Heritage Performance Organization in Chicago. The band performed at Bolingbrook High School against 7 other bands in their classification. The band played beautifully, earning a superior rating, 1st place in their class, and the Adjudicators' Award, selected by the judging panel.
“I could not be prouder for the kids to receive first in our class,” comments Andy Murphy, Director of Bands.
In addition to the rehearsals and competition, band students enjoyed exploring the windy city, taking in the history and sights. They visited the Navy Pier and some fearless students even stepped out onto the skydeck at Sears Tower.
“I am really proud of this group of musicians this year,” shares Mr. Murphy. “As a band, we have grown and built a family bond. Watching the students interact and have fun together on the trip is one of the highlights of my job. But watching them grow musically is amazing too. I feel blessed to teach them. These band students are truly the best, and I am better because of them.”
