COVID SYMPTOMS

If a Legacy student, faculty, or staff member develops new or different symptoms that may be COVID-related as described by the CDC:

The individual must notify the Director of Health Services of the symptoms and the date of symptom onset via the COVID Reporting Form.
The individual must isolate at home until the following conditions are met:

  • 10-day quarantine from the date of symptom
  • No fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications
  • Must be symptom-free in order to return to campus.

Students and faculty must transition to FLEX Learning.
If the individual believes the symptoms are not COVID-related, the individual must do ALL of the following before returning to campus:

  • Consult a physician; submit physician documentation that symptoms are not COVID-related; confirm an alternate diagnosis (e.g. allergies, seasonal cold, strep throat, etc.)
  • Submit a negative COVID test at least five days after symptom onset
COVID+ TEST

If a Legacy student, faculty, or staff member has a lab-confirmed, positive test for COVID-19:

The individual must notify the Director of Health Services of the positive result, date of test, onset of symptoms, and accompanying documentation via the COVID Reporting Form.
The individual who is lab-confirmed positive for COVID-19 must isolate at home until the following conditions are met:

  • At least 10 days have passed since the date of the positive test.
  • No fever for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications
  • Must be symptom-free in order to return to campus.

COVID+ CLOSE CONTACT

If a Legacy student, faculty or staff member is identified as CLOSE CONTACT

All individuals who have been identified as CLOSE CONTACT with a lab-confirmed positive case must isolate at home until the following conditions are met:

  • 14-day quarantine from the last date/time of exposure.
  • Must be symptom-free in order to return to campus.

Students and faculty must transition to FLEX Learning.

  • COVID-19 testing for close contacts is not necessary as negative test results can occur at any time while the virus is incubating. A negative test result during the 14-day quarantine does not shorten the exclusion period.
  • CLOSE CONTACT defined: A student, faculty or staff member will be determined to be in close contact according to the following definition as defined by the CDC and TEA:
  • Being directly exposed to infectious secretions (e.g., being coughed on, sneezed on, etc.)
    • You provided direct care at home to someone who is COVID+
    • You had direct physical contact with COVID+ person (hugged or kissed them)
    • You shared eating or drinking utensils with COVID+ person
    • A COVID+ person sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you
  • Being within 6 feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes; additional factors such as case/contact mask wear (i.e., both the infectious individual and the potential close contact have been consistently and properly masked), ventilation, presence of dividers, and case symptomatology may affect this determination.
HOUSEHOLD MEMBER COVID+

If an LCA household/family member is confirmed COVID+

The individual must notify the Director of Health Services of the COVID+ household member exposure via the COVID Reporting Form.

  • All individuals who have been exposed to someone in their household that is COVID + must isolate at home until the following conditions are met:
    • 14-day quarantine beginning with the last date of positive exposure.
    • Must be symptom-free in order to return to campus.

Students and faculty must transition to FLEX Learning.
