Legacy is excited to field our first varsity soccer teams for the 2016-2017 season! We are equally excited to announce that Coach Erik Krotz, husband to Upper School Assistant Principal, Shane Krotz, will be heading up the program and serving as the boys' coach.
Coach Krotz comes to us with 15 years of coaching experience and 18 years in education. He has been named teacher of the year three times, and district coach of the year seven times over his career. In addition to coaching, Coach Krotz will be teaching 7/8 grade history. “Legacy Christian Academy has a reputation of being the premier private Christian School in North Texas, and I want to do all within my abilities to help maintain that reputation of excellence,” comments Coach Krotz. “I love to teach and cannot wait to get into the classroom. The faculty at Legacy is top notch and I am delighted to join such an outstanding group.”
While the program details have not been announced, Coach Krotz plans to meet with prospective players of both teams before school ends to introduce himself and talk about the expectations for the 2016-2017 season, with tryout dates forthcoming.
Greg Gober, Legacy Athletic Director, says of Coach Krotz, “I believe we are incredibly blessed to have him as our new Boy's Soccer Coach. He will definitely lay a great foundation that will continue LCA's reputation for excellence. His coaching accomplishments are very apparent and obvious to see throughout his coaching career, which includes coaching stints in three different states. He has won multiple State Championships, and advanced deep into the playoffs everywhere he has coached.”
When asked about the teaching portion of his new position, Coach Krotz shared that he is excited to get back into the middle school classroom, where he started his career after years teaching high school history. “I truly enjoy being in the classroom and helping students to appreciate our country.”
