On Monday, 10 Legacy Intermediate School drama students competed at the ACSI Speech Competition at Bethesda Christian School in Ft. Worth. The students have been practicing their pieces for weeks, and their hard work paid off as each of them earned an award for their excellent performance skills. Two students, Tyler Heaton and Elizabeth Purvis, finished in the top ten of all contestants. Tyler earned the Superior ranking and a bronze medal for his humorous poetry piece, “Jabberwacky,” and Elizabeth received a Superior ranking and a silver medal for her humorous reading, “The Adventures of Spud Murphy”.

For most of students, this was their first time to perform at the competition level. “I am so proud that they were able to put nerves aside and branch out of their comfort zones to try something new!” commented drama instructor, Amanda Solomon. “What a joy it was to watch them shine, and I feel so blessed to be a part. I'm look forward to helping these kids finish the year strong.”
