According to a 2012 Journal of Adolescent Health article, “More frequent family dinners are related to fewer emotional and behavioral problems, greater emotional well-being, more trusting and helpful behaviors towards others and higher life satisfaction” (per The Scramble).
Meal-Time Monday is the first in what will become a regular feature on the Life@Legacy blog! If you're like us, the beginning of school no doubt affords your family the opportunity to “get back in the routine.” With that in mind, we hope to encourage everyone, ourselves included, to make time for a Family Meal. This week we feature the Housley family and one of their go-to recipes.
Mrs. Housley, Intermediate School English teacher and mother of Elisabeth (8th Grade), Molly (4th Grade) & Sammy (1st Grade), shared with us, “Eating a meal together at the table is one of the most valuable times we have as a family. Adam & I try to sit down each weekend and look ahead to plan out meals. We often assign a meal to each girl and work to get them involved in cooking as much as possible.” Mr. Housley, Associate Head for Advancement, added, “Given how busy life gets during the school year, the CrockPot is our best friend, and you can't beat root beer and pork!”
