Academic Overview

Legacy Christian Academy challenges students to develop a Biblical worldview equipping students with the virtues needed to evaluate all that they encounter and empower them to impact their culture for the cause of Christ. The “written” curriculum at LCA, while important, is just one component. The “living” curriculum, composed of the students, faculty and parents, comprises an equally important part of our school's focus.

Our curriculum embraces three elements: Christian, character and classical. As a school, we promote and foster students’ relationships with Jesus Christ through both our teaching and our individual testimonies. Furthermore, as a Christian school, we pledge that all curricular content will be filtered and presented within a Christian worldview. Our curriculum is rooted in a Christ-centered view of life, allowing students the opportunity to understand themselves and the world around them from a Biblical perspective. All truth is found in God and is derived from His revealed Word and from objective observation of the world He created. In all matters, the Scriptures are supreme. The integration of Biblical faith and learning is the responsibility and a primary function of each teacher at LCA.

Concerning character, we believe that we have the mission of equipping our students to live wholesome, Christian lives in a challenging and demanding world. We believe all students are a gift from God, crafted uniquely for His purpose, and it is our responsibility to celebrate their individuality and equip them to use their gifts.

At Legacy Christian Academy the term “classical” indicates a commitment to educate students in the rich heritage of ancient and modern works commanding enduring respect. We teach our students to be great thinkers, strengthening their minds and thus their witnesses. Language arts (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are integrated throughout the curriculum using appropriate literature, phonics and comprehension skills. Hands-on science focuses on scientific thinking strategies and includes the use of our science lab. Music appreciation, visual arts and computer literacy are taught throughout the curriculum. Foreign language instruction is also provided. Bible is taught at every grade level on a daily basis and includes Bible study, Scripture memorization, and integration throughout the curriculum. In addition, weekly Chapel and other worship opportunities are scheduled throughout the year.

Legacy Christian Academy provides an environment that balances a relationship with God through faith in Christ with academic, artistic and athletic pursuits. Academic excellence coupled with the development of Christian character will enable each student to recognize God’s special plan for his or her life and to strive to attain that goal.
