It is the mission of the Legacy Service Organization or LSO to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community knowing that we can do nothing without the Spirit of Christ in us. We desire to touch as many lives as we can using the gifts and talents that God has given each one of us and strive to make a difference for Christ.
Our main working partnership is through Buckner International. Through Buckner we are working with a community out-reach program in Oak Cliff and with “Shoes for Orphan Souls.” We know that we can continually do more, and we pray that God will lead us to the needs He wants us to fill. We pray that we see Christ daily as we reach out to those who are closest to us. Matthew 25:40 “And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”
The purpose of the Legacy Christian Academy Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) is to develop a positive and welcoming climate for all parents and to assist the LCA Board of Trustees, Administration, and Faculty in meeting their current needs through many avenues. This cannot happen without amazing volunteers and families like you. There is a multitude of volunteer opportunities, which can be seen in the form below. Please consider becoming a part of this wonderful organization.

Students in Grades 6-8 meet during lunch time twice a month with the librarian to discuss the book of the month chosen by the group. The students are required to purchase and read the book by the required dates each month. The setting is relaxed and fun. Book club is a great way to encourage middle school readers to be life-long readers.
Students interested in pursuing a career in medicine after graduation meet monthly, and on the last Monday of each month travel to UT Southwestern Medical School in downtown Dallas to participate in Explore, a group of high school students, like us, with an interest in medicine where Medical professionals from all disciplines discuss the all aspects of their profession. In addition to these activities, the Club holds a Physician's Breakfast in the spring in the high school. All types of medical professionals come to the breakfast and visit with the officers of the club. Afterward, guests participate in a panel Q&A with the entire high school student body.
Future broadcasters in the making keep the Lower School up to date on all the latest Legacy happenings. Good Morning LCA! is our bi-weekly morning announcement show recorded and produced by 4th grade & viewed by all the Lower School students. Installments include news, weather, sports, Bible Trivia & more. All 4th grade students are given the opportunity to participate, as teams of students work together to help write, edit, and record each week. Green screen technology is utilized to help set the stage for backgrounds that coordinate with what’s going on in our world. Good Morning LCA! is uploaded to Legacy’s YouTube channel, LCANewsNow, so that all family members , near & far, can enjoy their budding broadcasters. Our broadcasts have been seen across the globe from Frisco, TX to as far away as Dubai!
LCA values and celebrates the entire family, including the grandparents! We know that grandparents have many gifts and talents, as well as time to share during this stage of life, so we have created a Grandparents Club to allow local grandparents opportunities to become more involved in the life of LCA. Volunteer opportunities include:
Club & Activity Sponsor
Major Event Assistance
Women's Bible Study
Upper school students interested in Broadcasting, Video Production and/or music production would enjoy this campus club. Students are responsible for media highlights in the area of student life, athletics, and announcements. LEED students will also produce sound during chapel and pep rallies.
Students have the opportunity to participate in robotics competitions, building and programming their own robots, learn how to use power tools, and interact with engineers and other students interested in engineering. Students are exposed to real-world engineering and business situations by not only constructing a design, but by learning how to manage, market, and communicate an idea. Along with a more developed knowledge of robotics and engineering, students learn the importance of teamwork.
Students in Grades 1-6 learn how to take a story, written or oral, and make it into their own story to tell orally. Storytelling club meets once a week in the library with the librarian throughout the year. The students practice telling a story the student has adopted as their own. The students work on voice inflection, body language/actions, and how to speak in front of an audience. Students are given the opportunity to tell their stories at Barnes and Noble in December in front of a large audience, as well as compete in a storytelling competition in the spring.
In our fast paced, media driven world, storytelling can be a nurturing way to remind children that their spoken words are powerful, that listening is important, and that clear communication between people is an art.
Women’s Bible Study meets weekly to grow in relationship with the Lord, as well as to build relationships within the LCA community.
We meet Tuesdays beginning Sept. 13 at 9:30am-11:00am.
