We are excited to announce that John and Chris and Keyes will be joining our Legacy Faculty for the 2016-2017 school year. John will teach Upper School science, and Chris will serve as Fine Arts Director.

John and Chris are beginning their 30th year teaching (together) as well as their 30th year of marriage. John and Chris, both products of Christian education, met at Tennessee Temple University and married shortly after graduating. They taught at Garland Christian, where John went to school, for 22 years and most recently worked together at McKinney Christian.

Though they are new to the Legacy family, John and Chris have known about the great things happening here for years. While at Garland Christian, they worked with both Ronnie Littleton and the late Jennifer Borchardt. “The happiest time of my professional life was working with Ronnie, so when he called and told us about the science and Fine Arts Director openings, we knew we should at least consider it,” comments John.

“We were not looking for new jobs,” mentions Chris. “We are one-hundred percent certain God flung open these doors at Legacy.”

Chris comes highly recommended by Sandra Clark whom she has known professionally for years. “I am excited for Chris to usher our Legacy fine art students into a new season,” notes Sandra. In addition to teaching Upper School science, John will be faculty sponsor for the Upper School Student Activities and Leadership Team (SALT).

John and Chris have two daughters, Shelby who works as a professor of art at Dallas Baptist University, and Catherine who will be a junior at Legacy next year.

Legacy Christian Academy offers students a college preparatory education; central to that education is fine arts. 100% of students in pre-K through grade 10 participate in a fine arts course, and many upper classmen continue with their fine art study.
