On Wednesday, 38 Upper School students were inducted into Legacy's Chapter of the National Honor Society. During chapel, the inductees joined the current officers on the LPAC stage as Coach Embry welcomed the parents, faculty, and students. Then, as is NHS tradition, the officers spoke briefly upon and lit candles representative of the four NHS pillars: character, service, leadership, and scholarship. Inductees were then called upon to sign their names to chapter registry before receiving a rose and pin.

High school students with at least three complete semesters and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 GPA scale are eligible annually to apply for membership. The Upper School Faculty Council then reviews each applicant based on the standards of service, leadership, and character. Candidates who receive a majority vote from the Faculty Council are accepted for membership into the National Honor Society.

Being inducted into NHS is a great honor, and we are very proud of these new inductees! They have shown that they possess the qualities of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. We are excited to see this class of inductees continue to lead and serve Legacy as a part of NHS.”
–Rachel Cating, NHS Co-Sponsor

The 2017 inductees included 33 sophomores, 3 juniors, and 2 seniors (named bolded below), each of whom will now attend meetings and participate in chapter activities.

Following the induction, the 2017-2018 officers were installed:

  • Hannah Dryden, President
  • Jacob Eggleston, Vice President
  • Izzy Allison, Secretary
  • Emily Bordman, Treasurer

I am excited to serve NHS and Legacy in this capacity, and I hope to glorify God during my tenure.”
–Hannah Dryden, Incoming NHS President
