The 2017 Volleyball season is underway in a major way as the Lady Eagles captured the Silver Bracket Championship in TAPPS Volleyball Tournament last weekend held in Tyler, TX.

Riding a six-year playoff streak, including a second place district finish last year, Coach Williams visited with us to discuss this year's team and the upcoming season.

What can you tell us about this year's team?

We have six returning players from last year, and we have three seniors who took a break and are coming back to play. This combination of new and old makes for great chemistry and great volleyball to watch!

Our focus is to be clothed in strength and dignity (Proverbs 31:25). This group of girls are amazing. They are stronger than they think. They are a fun group who loves to work hard, who desires to make their game better and stronger. They love to lift each other up, and they love to win together and hate to lose. I am proud of everyone of these ladies. We would love for you to come out and show your support to a great group of ladies who love to make Legacy proud.

I am most excited about leading the team as a senior and spending my last year with all my best friends and teammates. I look forward to all the home games when the student body comes out to support us! To be successful this season, we need to work hard in practice to prepare for tough games and keep up the energy on the court. Everyone plays their best game when we support and encourage each other on and off the court.”
-Hannah Hamilton, Senior Co-Captain and 4-year Starter

What does your off-season look like?

We use the off season to rest our bodies, which allows our girls to focus on their academics or other interests. Many girls are playing other sports or compete on club teams. I look forward to summer ball after this time away. We spend time in the gym getting reacquainted with each other and the court before competing in a summer league, which is always interesting and a great warmup to the season ahead.

What can you tell us about your captains?

Hannah Hamilton and Abbie Marsh are our captains. I am so thankful for their leadership on and off the court. They are both very different, but they love to compete and love to play. They have both grown up in the program's culture and get it. I know these seniors will do a great job of leading our team!

I love the challenge to lead on and off the court, and I cannot wait to compete against Prince of Peace! To be successful this season, we need to work together as one unit, not individual players.”
-Abbie Marsh, Junior and 3-year Starter

When is your first home game?

Our first home game is August 28 against Rockwall Heritage. This should be a great match up of skills and talents. Rockwall advanced to the final four last year in 3A, so it would great to play in front of a packed house!

If we can only make one game, which one should it be?

This year just like all the other ones, we love a good game against Prince of Peace, which is on September 12 at home. They do a great job of bringing a great crowd, which is why we need to bring our Loud Proud Legacy Crew!
