Anita.

During the month of October, many of our Legacy athletes proudly wrapped that name around their wrists with bright pink tape.

Coleman Taylr, senior, is congratulated by Mr. McGee upon being crowned 2017 Homecoming King.

On paper, Anita Hrdlicka is the Legacy athletics trainer. Before coming on as a full-time trainer, she began as a trainer at Legacy football games in 2014 and has been a certified ATC for over 25 years. She understands injuries and does a great job on follow up with athletes and parents. She works hard on and off the field, and her caring, genuine nature has made her invaluable to the football team. In reality though, she has a tremendous impact on our students beyond treating their injuries!

“She is the heart and soul of the football team.” – Sam Clayton, junior

“Her dedication to the team and players should not go unnoticed” – Coleman Taylor, senior

Anita has developed strong relationships with the players and coaches and has become one of the, if not the, most important person to our athletes, often serving as the proverbial chicken noodle soup for the the soul. But while she has been training and caring for our students athletes, she has been competing off the field against her own opponent–breast cancer.

“Although she doesn't always get the recognition she deserves, all who know Anita know that she is the most selfless, hardworking, and dedicated member of our team. That's just it… she's a part of our team.” – Will McCurdy, senior

To demonstrate their love and support for her fight against cancer, many of our athletes wore her name on their wrists during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and during their Homecoming game. It was a beautiful symbol of the special bond Anita has with our Legacy community.

We are very blessed to have Anita at all of our games. In the midst of helping all of us at Legacy, Anita is battling breast cancer. She has good days and bad days. We are with her through this and praying this will be behind her soon. We love Anita! –Coach Embry

All of Legacy loves Anita, not just the athletic department and players, and will continue to support her through her fight till the very end.
