It's that pie in the sky dream so many young footballers seek and yet so few manage to achieve.
Legacy's very own football captain Kaleb Lowe has managed just that. He captured the coveted title of National All-American.
Kaleb was hand-picked among thousands of players from across the country at an Offense Defense Football camp last summer. There he was scouted for his athletic excellence and he was ultimately selected to participate in the Offense Defense Bowl in New Orleans last December.
Kaleb gained invaluable knowledge and experience while training with fellow Bowl athletes and coaches. It gave him insight into his own game and reminded him of the importance of continually pushing himself to “work hard because there will always be better athletes.”
A quarterback since the age of 5, football is truly in his blood. Eagles Offensive Coordinator Cody Galloway noted “Kaleb knows the game very well which allowed him to be a strong competitor and pushed him to do anything to win.” He revels in every opportunity to strap on his pads and hit the field with his team. He prides himself in his work ethic and is often the first one on the field and the last one to leave.
Our 2017 season Head Coach Andrew Embry highlighted Kaleb's passion for the game is deep-seated. “Kaleb was very intense in practice which carried over into his game day performance.”
Kaleb closed out his senior year on a high note. In addition to being named a National All-American, he was also awarded Offensive Player of the Year and received All-District quarterback honors, just to name a few of his many accolades.
During his final season with the Eagles, Kaleb passed for over 2000 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He hopes to call on these impressive stats and bring his passion and drive for the sport to secure a spot for himself on a college team. Kaleb has dedicated much of his time to a sport he truly loves. He has logged all the practice hours, extra time with quarterback coaches, speed and agility training as well as weight training. The hard work has paid off and colleges have noticed. Kaleb now turns to the arduous task of making his college decision.
He has been in talks with Austin College, University of Iowa – Dubuque, Bethel University in Minnesota, Missouri Valley College and Southwestern University. With several factors to consider, Kaleb hopes to make his final decision within the next few weeks.
As Kaleb sets his sights on college teams, his time at Legacy will always be extraordinary to him as it gave him the opportunity to play the sport that he loves so dearly “alongside his brothers in Christ.”
