Legacy Christian Academy offers a college preparatory education balanced in academics, athletics and fine arts within a Christian community to equip strong leaders with Biblical convictions for tomorrow.

Growing up into a whole, healthy and accomplished young adult is a challenge and a joy, and the entire Legacy community seeks to support and celebrate students along the way. In the spirit of honoring Jesus Christ and his love for all children, we base our philosophy of education on our mission: to offer a college-preparatory education balanced in academics, athletics and fine arts within a Christian community to equip strong leaders with Biblical convictions for tomorrow.

Throughout their school experience, young people encounter opportunities to question, to reason, to express themselves, to discover and pursue a passion, to risk, and sometimes even to fail and hopefully to learn from that failure. The mission of Legacy Christian Academy is to help our students understand their purpose from a Christ-centered perspective as they navigate the opportunities before them.  Legacy provides an environment that balances a relationship with God through faith in Christ with academic, artistic and athletic pursuits. Through a wide range of outstanding programs, Legacy students grow as healthy, balanced individuals and cultivate personal strengths as scholars, artists, athletes, leaders and servants.  Academic excellence coupled with the development of Christian character enables each student to recognize God’s special plan for his or her life and to strive to attain that goal.

Legacy was founded on faith and prayer. Since the inception of the academy, school leaders have had a pinpoint focus, steeped in Christ’s calling on their life, to create and develop a Christian college-preparatory school. With God’s word as their guide “where there is no vision, the people will perish” (Proverbs 29:18, KJV), their devotion to a school for Christ’s purpose, was an example of faithful vision. The school founders envisioned a school that would emphasize the development of each student’s body, mind and spirit (Luke 2:52, KJV). This philosophy is articulated in our mission statement: Legacy Christian Academy offers a college preparatory education balanced in academics, athletics and fine arts within a Christian community to prepare strong leaders with Biblical convictions for tomorrow.

Legacy Christian Academy assists Christian parents in providing a Biblically-centered education for their children through the integration of faith and learning. Legacy is committed to teaching a Biblical view of God and the world through the spiritual, intellectual, physical and social development of a child. We want God to be the catalyst for change in our students’ hearts and lives--not the world or our own quest for significance and success—and we desire for them to be so captivated by His love that they in turn become catalysts for change in the world.

Christ-Centered without Apology

Legacy Christian Academy’s mission is carried out within a Christian community. While not trying to institutionalize the relationship between God and man, the academy was founded to support Christian parents who desire to integrate their faith into their child’s education. Legacy students are engaged to live a life that values: God’s word as truth (Psalms 119:9-11), a maturing relationship with Christ (Mathew 22:37-38) and Christ’s presence in our lives as an example of character, leadership and service (Micah 6:8).

Christ is in the totality of our efforts (Galatians 3:12-17), everything Legacy does as a school is done for the honor and glory of Jesus Christ. We do not find our spiritual center in a program, lectures or chapel. Instead, every effort will be given to aid our students to use their abilities, whether intellectual, creative or physical, to the glory of Christ. Legacy stands to provide an environment of academic quality, steeped in Biblical truths and perspective; this includes teaching a Biblical worldview that is integrated into every facet of campus life. This distinction makes LCA stand out.

Academic Excellence without Excuse

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." Colossians 3:2
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. . . " Proverbs 9:10

Legacy is committed to academic excellence. As a Christian school, Legacy is learner-centered where classroom teaching is prized. Legacy trains students to be grounded in the world of literature, values, ideas, history, ethics, art, music, communication and creativity. Contemplative learning is encouraged along with practical opportunities to experience life lessons. The most important assets on the Legacy campus are our students and a well-trained, highly passionate faculty. Legacy’s leaders expect the faculty to model excellence for students while challenging them to pursue excellence in all areas of their individual lives.

Legacy seeks high quality educators who have hearts for God and who demonstrate expertise in their field. One of the greatest attributes that our teachers should possess is a teachable spirit. Legacy Christian Academy desires its leadership team (everyone who reports directly to the headmaster), faculty and staff to have a personal relationship with Christ, a relationship demonstrated by true servant leadership, humility and unconditional love. Our faculty should be a diverse group who teach because they embrace and exemplify the school’s mission. We want teachers who inspire the joy of learning, teachers who challenge students to think critically. We look for faculty who love students and pursue truth.

Loving Students without Exception

"Do you know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it in order to get a crown that will last forever." 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

". . .Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14

At Legacy, we understand that each student is uniquely created. Our goal of loving students toward maturity in their giftedness directly reflects Christ’s call on our life to first love Him and then to love others. Because God has created us unique, we encourage athletic and artistic performance.

At Legacy, we believe athletics is an integral part of the overall education of a student. It prepares the student mentally, physically, socially and spiritually for the rigors of life. The athletic department is committed to equipping leaders with Biblical convictions for tomorrow and is in accordance with the overall mission of Legacy Christian Academy. Legacy emphasizes competition, teamwork, sacrifice and consistently pursuing excellence. Our foremost desire is to encourage an athletic environment where Christ-like humility and self-discipline are priority. The athletic participant must understand that he/she is representing Legacy Christian Academy. Christian conduct and sportsmanship will be exhibited during a contest. It matters not that the participant is in the game, on the sideline, or on the bench; his/her conduct must be Christ-honoring.

Coupled with athletics is artistic expression. Legacy Christian Academy recognizes the importance of a fine arts education in developing a well-rounded student. The study of the arts is designed to help students realize and develop the creative talents God has bestowed upon them. The Fine Arts department at LCA encompasses four quality programs: visual arts, band, choir and drama. The arts enrich and are enriched by the other subjects.

  • The arts promote creativity, thinking and joy.
  • The arts offer different ways to make meaning.
  • The arts reflect and influence cultures.
  • The arts promote aesthetic literacy.
  • The arts prepare students for full participation in society.

While we celebrate victories and championships, concerts and accolades, we hope for a greater celebration of changed lives and stronger relationships born out of our athletic and artistic pursuits. Our emphasis on athletic and artistic excellence and our successful tradition must never overshadow the all important goal of honoring Christ with all of our lives.

In summary, Legacy Christian Academy’s philosophy is about:

  • Being Christ-centered without apology
  • Promoting academic excellence without excuse
  • Loving our students without exception.

" . . . But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen." 2 Peter 3:18
