Kindergarten to 4th Grade Christ-Centered Education at Legacy Christian Academy in Frisco, TX
Raising children to properly understand God's word and the world starts early in life. This is why we are proud to provide our students with a loving environment where we remain dedicated to excellence in academics and spiritual growth. We select only the highest quality teachers who incorporate a Biblical Worldview with God's plan and purpose throughout the curriculum. As a student at LCA, your child will learn phonics-based literacy, science, mathematics, history, and the Bible. Further opportunities to grow are provided through enrichment classes including art, music, technology, physical education, and Spanish.
Lower school children meet weekly for chapel services appropriate for their age. Chapel starts with a combination of hymns and praise songs for worship before students witness a Bible story relating to a Godly character quality that is updated each month. Relevant stories and exciting activities further illustrate how students can apply these character traits to their own lives. We also include opportunities for students to join clubs and engage in friendly competitions so they may further excel in a range of academic subjects. There is a chess club on campus sponsored by parent and grandparent volunteers. This year, we will be participating in the Private Schools Interscholastic Association for spelling, writing, storytelling, and mathematics.
Celebrating our students and their accomplishments is important to us at LCA, which is why we hold a monthly Student Spotlight Assembly. Here, students are recommended by teachers for recognition of their achievements in various categories. We'll also celebrate birthdays and hold exciting activities to provide a break from the demanding academic schedule.
At LCA, we understand that our Lower School is the very foundation of preparing students for future success in Middle School, Upper School, college, and the rest of their lives. Each year, field trips are carefully planned on and off campus to further bolster our students' Christ-centered education. On-site science field trips involve a ‘High-Touch, High-Tech' atmosphere to supplement other hands-on lab activities and students' detailed science journals. As a highlight of LCA Lower School, fourth graders are taken on a trip to Austin for the culmination of their Texas history studies.
Legacy Christian Academy Lower School is also the time for students to develop not only the skill for reading, but foster a love of reading at a young age. Our Library encourages students to visit before, during, and after school to check out books and use the computers. Here, Lower School students will find engaging activities like read alouds, puppet shows, storytelling, nursery rhymes, and more to make reading fun.
With technology becoming ever more integrated into modern life, we introduce computer basics and guide students starting in Kindergarten. Children begin by learning appropriate technology terminology as well as how to open and close programs, save files and folders, all while becoming familiar with a network environment. While the primary years focus on graphics programs, students are introduced to document, presentation, and spreadsheet programs by the second grade. A six-week formal typing instruction is taken by fourth graders who also produce and design a bi-weekly broadcast show called “Good Morning, LCA!”
