The Screamin' Eagle Marching Band received an overall superior rating during the TPSMEA State Marching Competition. The band was also awarded Outstanding Musical Effect for best overall impression of the total show.
12 Bands competed at Legacy this past Saturday for the TPSMEA State Marching Competition, the largest TPSMEA State Marching Competition to date. Bands travelled from all over the DFW and Houston areas and were divided into two classes. Class I was comprised of 7 bands with 40 or fewer members, and Class II was comprised of 5 bands with 41 or more members. Legacy marched its largest band of 49 members, and therefore competed in Class II for the first time in 6 years.
During the competition, bands perform in front of five judges: three band judges, a percussion judge, and a color guard judge. Each band is given only one chance to perform. “I was pleased with our band's performance. We had a difficult show and and competed well within the larger class,” commented Mr. Andy Murphy, Director of Bands. “I hope we can take what we learned and apply it to next year. Hard work does payoff.”
Thank you to the Band Boosters for making sure everything ran smoothly, in spite of the inclement weather leading up to the event.
