Young Entrepreneurs Academy is a groundbreaking educational program that takes students, grades 6-12, through the process of starting and running real businesses/social movements over the course of a full academic year. Students work in close cooperation with local leaders of industry, community members, and educators to develop ideas and objectives, write business plans, pitch potential investors for real money, register with governmental agencies, develop their brand identity, participate in a tradeshow, and much more!

LCA sophomore, Jacob Crawford, participated in YEA! in 2012-13 and developed a locker organization system, My Cool Locker, during the program, which he has sold to LCA students for the past few years. After pitching his idea to investors, Crawford was awarded $1300 to launch his business. When asked if he would recommend the program, Crawford answered with a resounding yes! He added, “The program is important because it allows you to experience the real business world. You get to create jobs for others and yourself.”

If your student is interested in applying for the program, they can download the application here, or get one from Mrs. Paxton or Mr. Townsley. Applications should be mailed to the Chamber of Commerce by September 30th.

YEA! is proudly sponsored by the City of Frisco and the Frisco Chamber of Commerce.
