Summer Reading

Upper School: Grades 9–12

The desire we have for our students is simple: for them to fall in love with reading. Summer reading is essential in both the development and advancement of our students. Because of this, the LCA English Department encourages students to read over their summer break. Reading two books of choice is our minimal suggestion because we believe that students should continue to read throughout the entire summer. Below is a suggested summer reading list, but you are not restricted to choosing books only from that list. The classics are timeless, however, you may want to read about the life of a Christian martyr, or how to become a successful entrepreneur, or simply escape into a fictional land that takes you to a place you would have never imagined otherwise. Find books on topics that you are passionate about or books that challenge you and make you a better person, while improving your reading skills. Parents, we ask that you help your child with his or her reading goals. Share with your son or daughter books that you have read or would like to read. Be aware of their choices making sure they coincide with your family values. Enjoy reading.
