Legends of Legacy
Chris & Becky Johnson

Chris & Becky Johnson side by side photo

Both Chris and Becky share a common educational background, having attended and graduated from private Christian schools. Their paths intersected as they both attended and earned degrees from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. It was during this time that their relationship blossomed and they were married  in 1984. Immediately out of college, Chris served as a Bible and Speech teacher and coach at Berean Christian School. However, driven by new opportunities and challenges, Chris transitioned into the corporate world, largely in marketing and advertising, while Becky dedicated herself to the day-to-day responsibilities of raising their four children—Nathan, Andrew, Ben, and Miriam.

In 1995, the Johnsons embarked on a new chapter when a job relocation brought them to Frisco, Texas. This move and their commitment to educating their children in a Christ-centered community, fostered the beginnings of Legacy Christian Academy. In time, Becky served as admissions director at Legacy from 2001-2005, and eventually left to work together with Chris at Frisco STYLE Magazine, which he had purchased in 2003.

Chris and Becky Johnson's journey is a testament to their shared values, strong faith, and commitment to their family.

Heart of Service
Lin Mayberry

Lin Mayberry headshot

Paul Simon has a song, “Born at the Right Time,” and that sums up Lin’s early years.  Her father was an artist, her mother a vocalist, and her inheritance was good taste.  Lin always loved school and loved to learn new things. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art and a Master’s Degree in Education at Texas A&M Commerce.  After graduation, Lin went to work full-time at Grace Academy, a small Christian private school in North Dallas and met Jody Capehart. They have been lifelong best friends! Lin worked under Jody’s loving wisdom at four different Christian schools, her final teaching home being Legacy Christian Academy where she remained for 21 years.

Lin married her husband Gary in 2008.  An accountant and an artist – opposites do attract!  Her two sons, Matthew and Michael, are both Legacy alumni. Lin spends her retirement days traveling, visiting with my life-long friends, and exploring/tending to her 3-acre paradise in East Texas. She still dabbles quite a bit in photography, drawing, and painting, and loves every moment that comes with being MeeMo to her nine grandchildren.

Lin remains forever grateful for all the families, students, colleagues, and leaders who share the treasure of doing God’s work in the very best of His fields.

After Party with local Dallas artists
Ray Johnston Band

ray johnston band

The Ray Johnston Band has built a solid foundation over the years based on melodies and lyrics that always seem to lean on the positive side of life. This frame of mind is Ray’s best feature, and everyone who knows him will admit that his “glass is half full” attitude has a sobering effect on lives that are often overburdened, overtired and just plain “over it.” Having 5 1⁄2 years in remission from Leukemia will definitely put things into perspective for pretty much anyone, and the new lease on life has never been lost on Ray who utilizes both his charity work and his music to spread the love and shed light in the darkness wherever he finds it. His previous album “No Bad Days” not only put Ray on a much larger map as a genuine songwriter and artist, but also stands as a shining example of how much music fans gravitate to his special brand of “happy.” When you ask Ray what one of his proudest career highlights is, he will tell you it was the licensing agreement with his alma mater, the University of Alabama, for the use of his originally penned song “Alabama Crimson Tide.”

Meet the Hosts

Emcee
Bianca Castro

Bianca Castro headshot

Bianca Castro joined the NBC 5 team in March 2014 as First at Four co-anchor. After anchoring in the mornings, Bianca hit the streets, turning stories with an investigative edge. She quickly became one of the station’s enterprise reporters who delivered exclusive stories. During college, she interned at a Dallas television station and was hooked. After graduating from Plano Senior High School, she headed south to Baylor University and is a proud alumna. Outside of work, she stays busy with volunteer work and as a fellow LCA mom (4th grader and 8th grader).

Yve Rojas
Auctioneer

ray johnston band

Yve Rojas has committed herself to being a dynamic Public Speaker, Auctioneer, and Emcee, having honed a striking stage presence and bold performance that truly fosters exceptional event experiences. After a significant career as an actress, she felt the stir to begin pursuing a new path as an auctioneer professionally. She’s always loved speaking and engaging with crowds, and as an auctioneer, she could do that while uniquely infusing the auction experience with her fire and strong voice. The unexpected reinvention of actress to auctioneer came from following her own advice of, “the best adventure is the self-directed one.” This included the incredible opportunity to participate in CBS’s Survivor Nicaragua. In addition to being a devoted mother of two teenage daughters, she is a Professional Speaker, Specialty Auctioneer, Professional Ringman at ADESA Kansas City, and Host of the NIADA TV Automotive Industry News Broadcast.
