Stronger Together Fund Chairs

Berkley & Ronnie Berry

Ronnie and Berkley Berry have been living the Legacy life since 2016 when their daughter, Riley, started Kindergarten. Once they toured the campus and witnessed the Christian foundation that the school instills in its students, they were on their way to being lifelong Eagles. Since they made the decision to attend Legacy, they have happily observed the excellent faculty and administration of Legacy pour into the life of the students, and they are happy to know that Riley will be hearing and learning things throughout her days that are in line with what she learns about at church and at home. Ronnie has participated in dad’s events, Watch DOGS, and recently, on LCA's long-term strategic planning committee. Berkley has been a room parent, and grade coordinator and served on the PTF Board as Teacher Appreciation Co-Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator.

Ronnie is a corporate tax practitioner, and he is currently the Vice President of Tax at Celanese, a Fortune 500 chemical and materials company, where he leads the company’s tax compliance and planning efforts. Berkley is a pediatric speech-language pathologist having practiced in public schools, The University of Texas at Dallas’s  Callier Center, and most recently, in a private practice setting. They are involved in their church at Hope Fellowship and enjoy sporting events, cheering on the Mavs, Cowboys, Rangers, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. They also enjoy coaching and cheering on Riley at her basketball and volleyball games.

They feel blessed and grateful for what Legacy offers Riley and their family in regard to growing in faith, community, education, safety, and service. They are thrilled to serve as this year’s  Stronger Together Fund Chairs. While tuition funds day-to-day operations, the Stronger Together Fund supports facility growth and investment, indexed tuition funds for our student body, and investments in our faculty. They are excited about the future of LCA and its potential to impact a growing area in the metroplex by sending spiritual leaders into our community for years to come, and for this reason, they are excited to do their best to promote this year’s Stronger Together Fund.

Legends of Legacy Award Recipients

Phyllis & Bobby Ray

Bobby grew up in Denton, Texas where he attended the First Baptist Church and accepted Christ as his Savior at age 13. He met Phyllis in the sixth grade, and although they did not get married in the sixth grade, they have been married for 59 years. They have two children, Karen, a second grade teacher at Trinity Christian School in Lubbock and Robert, owner of Tower Commercial Real Estate in Plano. They have four grandchildren Coby, Brad, Kelsey, and Lindsey, all graduates of Prestonwood Christian Academy, and four great-grandchildren, Cora, Carson, Dawson, and Callum.

Bobby and Phyllis have been residents of Plano for 43 years and are members of Grace Church. Phyllis was a high school English teacher for ten years and now spends time leading Bible studies, enjoying her grandchildren, and traveling. Bobby has been in the homebuilding business since 1983. He was an executive group president for a top ten national homebuilder and has also been a partner and board member for several local homebuilders. He was recognized as one of the top 500 Business Leaders in DFW and received the Hugh Prather award for Homebuilder of the Year.

Bobby is well known for his involvement in civic and political activities, being recognized for his achievements and leadership over the years, He has served on many boards and commissions, a few of which include the University of North Texas Board of Regents for twelve years, eight as Chairman, the Plano Presbyterian Hospital board serving as chairman for several years, and Northern Trust Banks of Texas. He was recognized as an Outstanding Alumnus of the University of North Texas, named Plano Citizen of the Year, and was awarded the John McVeigh award as Outstanding Republican of the Year.

Bobby has been involved with several churches over the years, serving in various ways. He has a caring and giving heart and was always eager to help when a need arose, whether promoting building campaigns, helping fund and send missionaries to Brazil, supporting “Old School, New School” basketball camps for underprivileged teens, or just reading to children in Sunday school.

Bobby is a leader who has a desire to serve and make a difference. So when Jody Capehart, a woman he knew from PCA and deeply respected, asked him to help start a new Christian school in Frisco, he eagerly agreed. He says, “serving as Legacy’s founding Chairman of the Board and helping to establish this Christ-centered school has been an honor.”

Additionally, he and Phyllis were gracious in their philanthropy for the school, including their donation to build the school’s chapel named after Phyllis.

Heart of Legacy Award Recipients

Sandra Clark

Sandra Clark is a Godly, gifted, and dedicated educator who served at Legacy Christian Academy from 1999-2016.  Hear from Sandra in her own words as she shares memories and insight on the history of LCA:

“My time in the classroom is my greatest memory!

Teaching students the importance of music, the proper technique of singing, and witnessing the confidence of students who never thought they could sing. Also presenting opportunities to students who had a natural talent for singing and music and being able to challenge them was a blessing. The ability to pray each day in the classroom and build relationships with students continues today with many who text to get together for lunch or to ask me to pray for them. I’ve shared in weddings and the birth of new babies. These are the lifelong blessings of teaching at LCA!

LCA always focused on being Christ-centered in and out of the classroom. Relationships with students and parents were a number one priority. As a parent and faculty member, I witnessed this firsthand in 2012 when our youngest son Matthew lost his life in a car accident during his senior year at Baylor. LCA wrapped their arms around our entire family with someone being in our home, providing meals,  and loving participation in his memorial service by the high school choir, Dr.  Harmon, Mr. Littleton, Coach Embry, and many many others from LCA.

Sandra Clark and her husband  Mark have been married for 36 years. They raised 2 sons who graduated from LCA. Byron(07) and Matthew(09) . Sandra has a BSE in Music  Education from the University of Arkansas and an MM in Music from Boston  University.  Mark and Sandra recently moved from Lake Kiowa to Union Valley, TX.  They are active members and Bible Study leaders in their church, Lake Kiowa Fellowship, which they helped establish in 2020 with Providence Church in Frisco.
