Legacy Christian Academy is excited to announce a significant addition to our Board of Trustees, Mrs. Ra Shonda “Shonda” Gibson. With her extensive background in management consulting and dedication to creating Christ-centered educational environments, Shonda brings a wealth of experience and passion to this role.
Head of School, Kevin Mosley, shared his excitement about Shonda’s appointment stating, “We are so excited to have Shonda Gibson serving on our Board of Trustees. I have watched Shonda serve faithfully in many areas of our school, supporting LCA's mission through volunteering in admissions, PTF, athletics and community engagement. Her consistent and faithful service is a testimony to her passion for Christian education. LCA will be blessed immensely through her leadership.”
Board of Trustees Chairman, Jeff Owens echoed these sentiments, highlighting Shonda’s vast experience she will bring to this role. “Shonda is an outstanding addition, whose wisdom, discernment and unwavering commitment to Christian values will bring invaluable insight to our board. Shonda has been a Management Consultant for over 25 years, serving multinational corporations and branded individuals in roles such as Senior Director, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. Her primary expertise includes business operations, revenue operations, change management, and policy development, particularly for companies and individuals navigating mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, she is a dedicated real estate investor and ambassador for women in real estate with the WREIN Network.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shonda has graciously volunteered her time and talents to serve LCA. She has been actively involved in the LCA community, serving as an Upper School Parent Ambassador, a member of the Kingdom Unity Committee, a Cross Country Team Parent, and a Grade Level Coordinator.
In her own words: “I am beyond thrilled to be involved with continuing to build a thriving, Christ-filled future for Legacy Christian. As parents in Christ, it is our duty to ensure we hold fast to Proverbs 22:6 to ‘train up a child in the way they should go. And when he is old, he will not depart from it.’ LCA has created an environment for families to partner in rearing Christ-like children that expands far beyond the school building. Given this opportunity to serve in such a way, I am honored and grateful.”
Shonda studied US Foreign Policy at American University in Washington, DC, and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University – Bloomington. 
She has a daughter, Marissa Robinson, who will graduate from Georgia Tech with a Masters in Analytics & Data Science in December 2024. Shonda is married to Jared Gibson, and together they have a son, Chase Gibson, Class of 2027. Chase is an active student-athlete here at LCA, participating in Cross Country, Soccer, and Tennis. The Gibson Family joined LCA in 2021 when Chase began 7th grade. They reside in Frisco and attend One Community Church in Plano. As a family, their favorite pastime is traveling the globe.
