Bruce Douthit

Team Doctor

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Bruce Douthit as the head doctor for all sports at Legacy.

God has blessed Bruce throughout his life starting with Christian parents who made the decision to move their family to Korea as missionaries for the Southern Baptist Convention.  After serving five years in Seoul and Pusan, Korea, Bruce’s parents moved his family to Houston, Texas where he graduated from Westbury HS. There he played basketball for the Rebels. Bruce then moved to Waco, Texas to attend Baylor University followed by medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Medical school was followed by an Orthopedic Residency, also at the UT Health Science Center in Houston. During medical school and residency, Bruce met his wife, Susan and together were blessed with three children, Lindsey, Andrew, and Taylor. His first private practice was in Ardmore, Oklahoma where he worked doing general orthopedics for two years. At that time, Bruce decided to spend a year in San Diego, California in a Sports Medicine/Arthroscopic Surgery Fellowship working under the Team Physician for the San Diego Chargers. After completing his fellowship, Susan and Bruce chose to move to McKinney to open a private practice. Currently, he practices Sports Medicine/Orthopedic Surgery in Frisco and has been blessed to work with great families and athletes for the past twenty-five years. Bruce’s goal in practice is to provide efficient value-based care for his athletes and their families preserving both their physical health for current sports pursuits as well as protecting their musculoskeletal health for future endeavors. He has been blessed to be associated with the Legacy Christian Academy Athletics Department for the past four years after serving as Team Physician for Frisco High School for 22 years. Each year, he enjoys Friday night football as well as all other Legacy sports. Bruce would like to thank Andrew Embry for giving him this opportunity and he enjoys working with all the coaches at Legacy.  Bruce is blessed by Coaches Outreach and his Bible Study which he leads for the coaches.
