Greetings from your new headmaster! I am pleased to establish this blog as an important vehicle to communicate my thoughts, ideas, dreams, and aspirations for the Legacy community and for Christian education in general.
As I complete my first week on the job, I am even more impressed with Legacy than when I was going through the interview process. The most impressive thing I have observed in my first four days is the quality and dedication of our staff. Clearly, there is a love for Legacy that inspires the pride and work ethic of our personnel. We are truly blessed with an outstanding group of servant leaders.
Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing with you my priorities as the head of school. I can already tell you that my number one priority is ensuring the physical and emotional safety of the school community. I look forward to working with the leadership team and school board to create an environment that is as safe as possible. As parents, I know that is your priority as well, and I trust that you will assist us in meeting that objective.
One of my first initiatives is to meet personally with every teacher, administrator, and support staff during my first 90 days. So far this first week, I have interviewed eight individuals. The purpose of these meetings is to get to know each person personally and to hear their aspirations for the school in general, as well as their specific areas of responsibility. I believe these meetings will also reveal some opportunities for growth along with some of the major challenges to be addressed. I also plan to meet periodically with focus groups of students and parents to hear their ideas and perspectives.
