Monty Page has been named Head Boys Soccer Coach. For the past two seasons, Monty has served as coach for the Middle School boys soccer team who amassed an impressive record of 25-1-1 with a goal differential of 109 to 10. Athletic Director Cole Johnson shared, “We are excited about Coach Page stepping in to the Head Boys Soccer Coach position. His camaraderie with the kids and ability to teach the game all while living a life pursuing Christ will only benefit Legacy and its community.”

Monty has a true passion for soccer and long playing career. After playing in college, he competed with the semi-pro outdoor team Austin Thunder and won the Lone Star Soccer Alliance Championship in 1991. He also played for the semi-pro indoor team Austin Soccadillos, which was a feeder team to the Dallas Sidekicks. He then traveled to Brazil to play in the premier division for FC Ituano before returning to the Austin Thunder. Monty was invited to join the initial Major League Soccer draft in 1996, but he opted to remain home with twins Annie & Noah soon to arrive. He continued to play at the Premier level (Open Age Group) as a guest player for National Cup Teams based out of Dallas through 2005 underneath Anthony Mungoli and last competed for Jude Samson on “Level 7” based out of Austin in 2017.

Asked about the his passion for soccer, Monty shared, “What I love about the beautiful game is that it seems continually to reflect life. Throughout each match there are a myriad of opportunities to pass glory to a teammate which, when done well, seems to endlessly confuse the opponent as they must succumb to defeat–all the while wondering how!”

Monty has four kids who have all attended Legacy: Annie and Noah, graduated in 2016, Amish, and Olivia who is 8th Grade.
