Tayler Spotswood

Varsity Volleyball – Assistant Coach

Tayler Spotswood was born into sports, quite literally. She came into the world on opening day when her dad was a pitcher for the Texas Rangers. Legacy Athletics is excited to have her join our staff as the new assistant coach for Varsity Volleyball. Tayler is a native of neighboring Allen, TX and went to school there from Kindergarten all the way through high school. She was raised playing soccer and basketball but got her first taste of volleyball after registering for a little league in Allen.  She was immediately enamored with the sport, so much so that in middle school she chose to devote her play to volleyball alone. Outside of school, she would spend all of her time in the driveway hitting the ball on the roof to improve her serve and would even drag her little sister out to rally back and forth. After graduating, she went to Trinity University on academic scholarships and played volleyball for three years before she developed a debilitating shoulder injury.

During summers throughout college, she would return to Dallas to work summer camps and coach club for Skyline Juniors.  She has been actively coaching with their organization for 11 years. Having both the player mentality along with a coaching mindset has really helped her be a more effective coach since she can relate to most of the situations they encounter on the court.

She finds coaching especially rewarding when she works on specific skills with the girls and they are then able to turn around and execute those skills in a game. It helps build their confidence as players and strengthens their bond as a team when the girls work together towards a common. Seeing their excitement when it finally “clicks” makes it all worthwhile.

Tayler just married her husband, Brent, four short months ago. In addition to coaching at Legacy, Tayler is a Realtor in DFW. She is a creative person and loves to craft and paint. She and her husband enjoy going to professional sporting events across the metroplex. They also have road bikes and love to go for long rides together around White Rock Lake. Welcome Tayler, Legacy is happy to have you!

LANDON WADE

Junior Varsity Volleyball

Legacy Athletics welcomes Landon Wade as our new Junior Varsity Volleyball Coach. Landon has coached middle school volleyball for two years but happily answered the call to coach JV this year. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in strategic communications. She is in her third year as a communications specialist at Legacy and is an incredibly talented graphic designer.

Her entry into volleyball was accidental. While in middle school, she played soccer initially but it just wasn’t the right fit, so she decided to give volleyball a try. She was hooked right from the start. She has played on teams in middle school and high school and also played intramurally as she continued to develop her love of the game. After suffering injuries while playing in high school, Landon was forced to the sidelines but quickly found her niche coaching.

She is a motivational and engaging person, both on and off the court. The girls are drawn to her charismatic nature and she is unapologetically a devout Christian. Her love of the Lord comes through in everything she does. Landon truly loves her role as a coach. She embraces the opportunity to work with the players on their volleyball skills while also ministering to the girls in every way she can.

Outside of Legacy, Landon has been a KLIFE small group leader to the same group of girls for three years. Those girls are seniors this year and she feels blessed to have been able to journey with them throughout much of their high school experience.
