Legacy Christian Academy is pleased to announce that Doug Hix will be the new head football coach. With more than 20 years of leadership experience in athletics and education — including eight as a head football coach — Coach Hix is uniquely positioned to lead our football program into an exciting future.

Most recently, Coach Hix served as an executive leader in advancement, and at LCA, he’ll be directly involved in donor development.

Doug Hix together with his familyCoach Hix played football and ran track in college — he was an All-American sprinter — and has trained many elite professional athletes, among them Cam Newton, Ben Roethlisberger, Joey Harrington, and Mike Williams, to name a few. He coached on three championship teams and he led his teams to multiple #1 rankings, playoff appearances, and a semi-final appearance as head coach.

“I’m humbled to be joining the LCA staff,” says Coach Hix. “What excites me the most is getting to know the students, especially the young men, and seeing how we can partner to create a culture of competitive excellence permeating every area of our lives. Coaching is not what I do — it's who I am. I’m devoted to bringing out the best in everyone, whether or not an individual is an athlete. I exist to inspire, train, and equip God's greatest creations, people, to be competitors, winners, and leaders gaining favor in the sight of God and man.”

Says Head of School Kevin Mosley, “Coach Hix believes passionately that culture and relationships are the heart of a strong football program. His commitment to the mentorship of young men as both football players and disciples of Christ will lay the foundation for success both on and off the field.”

“We’re thrilled for Coach Hix to join the team and use his God-given talents to motivate and inspire both on and off the field,” says LCA’s Chief Advancement Officer Shannon Nelson. “As we continue to push for state-of-the-art athletic facilities by way of renovations and expansion, Coach Hix will lead our athletic fundraising efforts through major gifts and corporate sponsorships.

Coach Hix and his wife, Tricia, have three children, a daughter, Niah (’25), and two sons, Noah (’29) and Eli (’31). The family attends the Village Church, in Flower Mound.
