jonathan alexandre oral roberts universityThe sports world will have their eyes fixed on one thing starting today: the NCAA D1 Men’s Basketball Tournament. 350 college basketball programs compete each year to make their way to “The Dance,” comprising 68 of the nation’s most elite programs. Whether it’s a Cinderella story or the continuation of a dynasty, one thing is for sure – it will be March Madness.

This year’s tournament is different for many reasons surrounding COVID protocols and teams playing at one location inside “the bubble” in Indianapolis. However, for our LCA community, this year is different because there will be a familiar face entering this year’s tournament. Our very own Jonathan Alexandre will be making his NCAA Tournament debut as a Freshman at Oral Roberts University.

jonathan alexandre takes a shot for legacy during the basketball state championship

Jonathan makes a pivotal shot during the 2020 State Championship game. He also wears the #30 jersey for Oral Roberts University.

Jonathan (’20) was a member of the back-to-back TAPPS State Champion Men’s Basketball team at Legacy in 2019 and 2020. He averaged 18 points and 7 rebounds per game during his senior season, including a career-high 25 points in the state championship game. Jonathan was also named to the All-State team and state All-Tournament teams in both his junior and senior seasons.

At Oral Roberts, a private, evangelical Christian university located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jonathan played in 5 games during his rookie year. The Gold Eagles clinched an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after winning The Summit League’s tournament title. “For Jonathan, he’s only known championships the past couple of years, so this goes right along with his championship mindset. I am so excited for him and his team.” Says LCA Athletic Director and Basketball Coach, Cole Johnson. Johnson also said that many of his former teammates have completed brackets with Jonathan’s team winning it all.

Congratulations Jonathan for another championship season and we look forward to watching you on Friday and in the years to come!
