The Chess Tournament took place at Founders Classical Academy on Saturday, May 6 from 9am- 4pm. The attendees from LCA were 4th graders Kyle Trulock, Carson Warren, Jonathan Frazier, and 2nd grader Megan Trulock

Each student played five matches in a non-elimination style tournament. Winners earned a point, losers no points, and draw/stalemate got ½ point for each match. Sadly, Megan did not earn a prize as this was her very first chess tournament, and there were several second/third grade students from other schools. In the 4th/5th grade category, Carson Warren earned 15th place, Jonathon Frazier received 8th place, and Kyle Trulock earned 3rd place. These rankings were won individually among more than 25+ kids in each grade category!

The boys took home 1st place overall! To make a team, there has to be more than 2 persons from the same school in the same grade category. So, LCA had 3 fourth graders – and they took 1stplace overall as a team with their combined individual scores. Way to go Carson, Jonathon, and Kyle!
