Congratulations to Jacob Crawford and Maddie White who were named Students of the Year for 2016-2017! The Student of the Year award is presented to the senior boy and girl who best fulfill the characteristics of a Legacy Christian Academy graduate as determined by the Upper School faculty. The characteristics are defined as a graduate who:

  1. Views the world through a biblical filter
  2. Has a solid, authentic and integrated faith
  3. Thinks critically and courageously defends the God's truth in the arena of ideas
  4. Gives selflessly and loves unconditionally
  5. Demonstrates a strong work ethic both in and outside of the classroom
  6. Leads others to a passionate pursuit of truth and relationship with Christ
  7. Leaves Legacy a better place as a result of his/her efforts and personal investment into others.

Female Student of the Year

The female Student of the Year award was presented to Maddie White. Maddie will graduate with a 3.88 GPA on a Distinguished Academic track, she is a member of Student Activities Leadership Team, Co-Leader for Girls Weekly Bible Study, and she has participated in Spirit Crew, Club Med, Concert Choir and JV Volleyball, and Legacy Service Organization. She has participated in domestic missions to both Portland Oregon and the Bronx, New York, as well as local mission opportunities. Since 7th grade, Maddie has participated in over 50 short-term mission trips to an orphanage in Mexico. She recently planned and led a mission of students to the same orphanage.

I challenge you to find another student in our school who has done more to be the hands and feet of Jesus – particularly to the orphan as Christ commanded.” -Kevin Mosley, Upper School Principle,

Male Student of the Year

The male Student of the Year award was presented to Jacob Crawford. Jacob will graduate with a Distinguished Fine Arts track with a GPA of 4.16; he is a 4-year band member, where he served twice as drum major and became state champion. He is the worship leader for chapel and the Boy's Bible Study leader. He is a member of the Student Leadership Team and the Robotics team. He also participated in JV and Varsity football for two years, LSO for four years. He is a member of the National Honor Society and currently sits in the top ten percent of his class. He has been accepted to Texas A&M to study Engineering and will play in the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band.

Jacob is unapologetic about his faith in the Lord and how we are all here to glorify God in everything we do. He puts God first in all he does and defends Gods word when needed. He led the band graciously and Christ-like this year during marching season and beyond.”
