My favorite memory for this season has to be winning at the MCA tourney. I really just overall enjoy watching everyone play and grow together as friends, better players, and stronger Christians. I will most miss the thrill of running up and down the court, the competition, winning games, and mostly my team.

The Lady Eagles have had an incredible, record-breaking year. Over the course of the season, leaders evolved, teamwork blossomed, and many friendships developed.

They started out the season with a bang winning 8 of their first 10 games including grabbing 2nd place at the Thanksgiving Classic in Denton. That week saw Tatum Ewing and Kendall Droesch receive all-tournament honors behind their teammates’ strong performances.

Lady Eagles Basketball Girls San Antonio Trip

The Lady Eagles headed to San Antonio to face their fiercest competition of the year – and came away with a VICTORY!

The Lady Eagles then went on a 9-game winning streak that included capturing the championship at the McKinney Christmas Tournament in December. Tatum Ewing was named MVP of the tournament while Kendall Droesch and Kendel Arnold were also named to the all-tournament team.

Our Fighting Lady Eagles headed into District 1-5A with great experience for such a young group and great confidence for any team. Taking 2nd place the girls earned the chance to host a playoff game for the first time in girls' team history.

Our signature game was no doubt the great come from behind win over El-Paso – Lydia Patterson on Friday, February 15 in the first round of the playoffs. The girls found themselves down with less than 4 minutes to play but then went on a stretch of some of the finest basketball they had played all season to secure the victory.

Although the girls did not make it to this seasons’ Final Four, no one can question the success these young ladies achieved both on and off the floor.

My favorite memory this season was winning the first round of playoffs on our home court. The thing I will miss the most is the bond I created with the underclassmen, they truly hold a special place in my heart. I've never been on a team where we have hung out with the underclassman so much. They were so enjoyable to be around and always kept smiles on everyone's faces.

Tatum Ewing

Senior & Co-Captain

Senior Tatum Ewing was named the Defensive Player of the Year in District 1-5A while Kendall Droesch was declared Freshman of the Year as both were named to the First Team. Also making First Team All-District was Freshman Katie Pelham who set the bar high for rebounding this season averaging almost 10 per game. Rounding out the honors for the Lady Eagles and making Second Team All-District was Senior Anne White, Sophomore Kendel Arnold, and Freshmen Julia Bowers and Haley Phillips.

Seniors Anne White and Tatum EwingAttempting to replace the Senior leadership of Anne and Tatum will be next to impossible for this reason: They became the Godly leaders He designed them to be for this team and for the journey He has in store for them.

With talent, hard work, and excitement reaching all the way down into the lower school, the future is bright for the Lady Eagles Basketball program. This program, as well as all our athletic programs, exists to advance the mission of Legacy Christian Academy:

Developing strong leaders with biblical convictions who are equipped to succeed in college and beyond.

Christ-centered, Christ-honoring, Christ-modeling, Purpose Driven. Future coaches, players, and parents must understand Mission First. Only then does all else begin to fall into place and fulfill God's ultimate purpose in the lives of each participant.

Praising God for what He has done and for what He will continue to do… We are ONE – ALL for HIM.

One of my favorite memories of this season was the San Antonio Tournament. It was a great opportunity not only to play the game we love but also to bond with our teammates. My relationship with all the girls strengthened on the trip and it was a blast!

I am most excited for the team to continue to improve and to have the opportunity to play with all of them again. Super excited for next year! Our goal is to make it past the second round of playoffs.
Kendel Arnold

Sophomore Guard

This year's team is one of the most enjoyable groups of young athletes with whom I have been privileged to coach. The girls truly enjoyed being together, working together, competing together, and celebrating one another. They defined the word team by showing what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit. The girls set new standards on the scoreboard, in the win column, and in the playoffs, but most importantly they left a legacy of Christ-like teamwork that will be a lighthouse to guide all those who follow. Our theme came from the scriptures in I Corinthians 12:1 and Colossians 3:23: We are ONE – ALL for HIM. These girls fulfilled that theme and fulfilled their God-given mission to grow closer to becoming Godly influences in their homes, churches, and communities for Jesus Christ.
