After five years of leading our girls varsity basketball program, Coach Dorian Harris has decided to step aside. In a letter submitted earlier in the week, Coach Harris shared,

I'm retiring my whistle but not my love and support for all of the strong young women who have played for me. I have been fortunate to coach outstanding players and serve alongside tremendous coaches. I'm proud of the accomplishments and strides we have made during my five years, and I look forward to watching the program continue to grow.

Coach Harris invested countless hours into shaping young lives through athletics. Legacy Athletics is grateful for his humble spirit and endless energy. Legacy is blessed to have him continue his servant-leadership in the classroom.

Upon learning of Coach Harris' decision, a search for our next Legacy Girls' Basketball head coach commenced immediately. When closely evaluating the programs' needs and considering several routes, the answers found guided our search right back home. We are pleased to announce that Coach Joey Roach has accepted an offer to serve as the new Head Girls' Basketball Coach of Legacy Christian Academy.

I am honored to accept the opportunity and challenge of leading our Girls' Basketball program. Coach Harris laid a foundation upon which to build, and our new staff looks forward putting together a structure that will exemplify Christ and provide an opportunity for our young ladies to grow as athletes and ambassadors for our Savior. The Apostle Paul, in Colossians 3:23, stated ‘Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.' We plan to do just that… Work hard for our Lord and Savior.
–Joey Roach, Head Girls Basketball Coach

Coach Roach, who joined Legacy last year, has coached both girls and boys throughout his career, taking his teams to multiple state playoff appearances. He served most recently as the Boys' Varsity Basketball Assistant for the 2016-17 TAPPS 5A State Finalist team. Prior to Legacy, Coach Roach has served in roles of Athletic Administration and coach at Prestonwood Christian Academy, Grace Classical Academy, and Garland Christian Academy. Beyond the Xs & Os of basketball, Coach Roach has a proven track record of taking programs and building upon pre-existing success.

We are truly blessed and excited to have Coach Roach step into his new role of Head Girls' Basketball Coach. We are confident he will guide the program in a manner consistent with his character, class, and professionalism,”
–Kari Tomeny, Girls Assistant Athletic Director

Coach Roach will meet with all interested high school and middle school girls immediately following the pep rally on Friday, September 15 in the girls' locker room.
