I am writing to keep you informed about current illnesses I am seeing at school. There are several students with strep throat and flu. The most common complaints are body aches, tummy-ache, scratchy throat, nausea, and fatigue. I want you to be aware as you assess your children's symptoms before sending them to school. As with any illness, the sooner you have a correct diagnosis and begin treatment, you will not only decrease the course of illness for your child but decrease exposure to your family as well as the Legacy family. If your child is diagnosed with strep or flu, please send me an email at Janet.Wainwright@legacyca.com so I can continue to track the number of cases.
As a reminder, students must be fever free, without medication for at least 24 hours, in addition to having had 48 hours of the appropriate medication for their diagnosis. This will promote appropriate healing time and again decrease the risk of spreading the infection at school.
