We're back! Legacy Christian Academy in Frisco announced on Monday that it plans to welcome students back on campus for in-person instruction on Thursday, August 13. The unanimous decision came after a team of experts including two physicians, legal counsel, principals, and board chairman confirmed that LCA’s reentry plan meets or exceeds the recommended precautions and protocols set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC. Head of School Bill McGee conveyed to families “The decision to open our campus is driven by our faith in our students, parents, and teachers to cooperate with the school and be in full compliance with the temporary restrictions that we must put in place to minimize exposure and ensure as safe an environment as possible. We are confident that our reopening plan will accomplish the goal of allowing on-campus instruction to take place in the least restrictive environment that keeps the health and well-being of our community as our number one priority.”

New Heights cover of Legacy Christian Academy's 2020-21 educational planLegacy shared “New Heights,” its educational plan for the 2020-21 academic year, and announced two new initiatives: C.O.R.E. classrooms and LCA Online. The C.O.R.E classroom (cohort) model was developed to minimize student exposure in order to support the continuation of on-campus learning. By reducing class sizes to an average of 12 students, C.O.R.E. classrooms ensure adequate physical distancing as recommended by the CDC. Additionally, Legacy will provide a high level of flexibility to on-campus students by recording instruction and providing a continuation of education even if students are unable to remain on campus due to COVID exposure.

LCA Online is a new, 100% online school program that provides students in grades K-12 a Legacy education from home. A team of LCA staff will support the online program for grades K-5 while students in grades 6-12 will receive instruction through a partnership with Sevenstar, a leading provider of online courses for Christian Schools, and is currently used by over 500 Christian Schools.

Legacy has been preparing the campus for months by reconfiguring classrooms, instituting additional cleaning procedures, acquiring additional instructional equipment, and preparing its staff for a successful return to campus. Legacy will be one of the only schools in Frisco to offer on-campus instruction for its students from the outset of the school year. Attorney General Ken Paxton recently issued a guidance letter for religious private schools, which provides LCA with confidence that it will be able to operate as continuously as possible in 2020-21 despite the challenges. LCA is still accepting applications for the 2020-21 school year. “We continue to see interest in all grade levels as parents seek the best fit for their family, and the great news is that we have openings in many grades,” shared Celeste Cordon, Director of Admissions.
