This past Wednesday I had the privilege to accompany our dance team, cheerleaders, and Legacy Loonies on a visit to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. I was so proud of our Upper School students for being the hands and feet of Christ as they entertained and interacted with these precious children. Most of the children there are battling severe disabilities that we cannot even begin to comprehend. Many have undergone multiple surgeries and have spent months in the hospital. What a blessing it was to see the joy on their faces as they engaged with our students. Shortly after our visit one of the fathers sent me an email of appreciation saying, “I can't express to you enough the gratitude I have for the genuine care and concern that Legacy has demonstrated with very thoughtful and personal action.”
As you would expect, our own students who were equally blessed by this experience. Several of our students plan to return on their own and asked me if we could do more to serve these children. We're working on that. So, when someone criticizes this generation of young people for being self-centered, send them my way. I'd like to introduce them to some teenagers who have hearts as big as Texas! This is one more reason I am thankful to be at Legacy.
I wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving as you remember all the blessings we enjoy as citizens of this nation and citizens of God's kingdom.
