We are thrilled to announce that our very own Tiffany McCollum has answered the call to become the new Lower School Principal. This announcement comes after a three-month search that included interviews with candidates from multiple states. She is replacing Kerri Rhodes, who will be retiring at the end of the current school year. Mrs. McCollum brings 25 years of experience in education, with the last 10 years devoted to serving Legacy as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal of our Early Education division.

Mrs. McCollum comes from a strong Christian background. She accepted Christ at the age of eight while attending vacation bible school and vividly remembers being baptized on her ninth birthday. Her religious loyalty is rooted firmly at Prestonwood Baptist Church where her family was one of the charter members and her dad was even one of the first deacons to serve there.

She grew up in Plano and graduated from Plano Senior High School. Mrs. McCollum headed to UT-Austin where she earned her bachelor's degree in Applied Learning and Development, with a minor in French. She subsequently earned her Master of Education from UT-Tyler. Additionally, she has a Principal Certificate from the State of Texas. While Mrs. McCollum began her career in the public education sector, working in both Plano and Frisco ISDs, it was her focus on Christian education and discipleship that ultimately brought her to Legacy.

Her resolute Christian roots are ever-present as she endeavors to pour into the kids spiritually as much as she possibly can. A conversation she had with her mom when she was a young mother herself was particularly powerful. Her mother said,

If you don't get them while they are young, the world will.”

Little did Mrs. McCollum realize, this would become the cornerstone of her professional philosophy.

She has an inherent need to reach the families and connect with each of them personally. Establishing that partnership is paramount and she views the relationships formed as essential to the success of each student.

She revels in seeing the progress of each child, year over year, and is excited to continue to serve our Legacy families in an expanded capacity.

“I am excited about Tiffany becoming our next Lower School division leader. What distinguished her candidacy from all others was her love for Legacy Christian Academy and the relational capital she has already built here. She is a lifelong educator who is ‘all in' regarding her service to Legacy. She is committed to helping our Lower School become even more excellent.” –Bill McGee, Head of School

When asked to comment about her appointment, Mrs. McCollum stated, “Legacy has richly blessed my family and me for the past 10 years. What an honor and privilege it will be to serve our Lower School faculty and families. I am excited about this new role to which the Lord has called me.”

Mrs. McCollum has been married to Scot McCollum, Legacy's assistant athletics director and technology specialist, for 21 years. They have two sons, Preston, a current 8th grader at Legacy and Connor, a 2017 graduate of Legacy who is attending Oklahoma State University. On any given day, Mrs. McCollum can be found at an athletic field, from her son Preston playing select baseball to her husband coaching both baseball and football. The consummate sports enthusiast, in her free time, she and her family enjoy attending UT and OSU football and baseball games (she is learning to embrace that “other” orange).
