Legacy Christian Academy hosted a collegiate signing day for five of our senior student-athletes on February 3. Signing a National Letter of Intent represents a milestone for these players and their families as years of hard work and dedication lead to an opportunity to play their sport at the college level.

Julie Atlason – Hardin Simmons University

Julie atlason '21 signs her national letter of intent to play soccer at Hardin Simmons UniversityJulie Atlason committed to play soccer at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. She started her soccer career at the age of five with the Pink Tiger and hasn’t looked back. Throughout her soccer career, she has played as a forward, striker, attacking midfielder, defending midfielder, left and right wingback, and occasionally center back. During her freshman year of play at Legacy, Julie led the team in goals and assists, was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Year, and was voted TAPPS First Team All-District Midfielder. Julie missed most of her sophomore season due to injury, but still managed to lead the team in both goals and assists. Her junior year she again led the team in goals and assists, was recognized as the Most Valuable Player, and was named TAPPS First Team All-District Midfielder. Legacy Christian Academy recognized Julie for her athletic leadership and contributions both on and off the field with the Soaring High Award. Julie is currently the captain of the LCA Varsity Girls soccer team, and a captain on her Sting Soccer Club select team.

Clayton Collier – Baylor University

Clayton Collier '21 signs his national letter of intent to play baseball at BaylorClayton Collier has committed to play football at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He started playing football in first grade but then postponed playing with a team until he could be surrounded by men of Christian faith to teach him the finer points of the game like sportsmanship and honor. The Collier family also wanted Clayton to be a part of a team he could regularly spend time with both on and off the field. He joined the team at Legacy in 7th grade as part of the Middle School football program, and Clayton has consistently continued to grow and excel. He played varsity football all four years of high school and was selected as a team captain his senior year. Additional honors Clayton has earned include 2020 Offensive Player of the Year, Academic All-State for both 2019 and 2020, 1st Team All-State for the offensive line in 2020, 2nd Team Defensive Lineman in 2019, and Honorable Mention Offensive Lineman in 2019. Clayton looks forward to playing on the O-Line at Baylor.

Nathan Frater – Ouachita Baptist University

Nathan Frater '21 signs his national letter of intent to play football at Ouachita Baptist UniversityNathan Frater has committed to play football at Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Nathan has played football since the age of four and has played a myriad of positions over the years, from quarterback to defensive end to wide receiver. OBU will call on his talents as a tight end. During his senior year of play at Legacy, Nathan was 1st team All-District for the defensive line, Academic All-State, 3rd team All-State for the defensive line, 3rd team All-District tight end, and was named team defensive MVP. Nathan excels not only on the field, with over 15 offers to play college ball, but academically, as he boasts a 4.08 GPA and scored a 32 on his ACT. He chose OBU due to the blending of academics, Christianity, campus life, and winning top D2 football program where he will study Biology / pre-med and likely minor in Engineering Physics.

Jackson Redmon – Covenant College

Jackson Redmon '21 signs his national letter of intent to play baseball at Covenant CollegeJackson Redmon has been a fixture on the baseball field since he was in kindergarten. He has committed to play baseball for the Covenant College Scots in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. While Jackson has enjoyed playing both baseball and football throughout most of his life, he decided to focus his efforts in his senior year solely on baseball. Jackson has received numerous awards in both football and baseball. His notable baseball accomplishments include: 2nd Team All-District- Baseball 2018, 1st Team All-District- Baseball 2019, and TJ Tomeny Fighting Heart Award for baseball in both 2018 and 2019. Jackson will take his place behind the plate as a catcher at Covenant College.

Tyler Wood – Hardin Simmons University

Tyler Wood '21 signs his national letter of intent to play football at Hardin Simmons UniversityTyler Wood has committed to play football at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. His joy and passion for the game started at an early age and he set a goal to play college football at the age of 10.  Over the years, he has had the opportunity to play every position on the offensive and defensive line. Throughout his playing career, he has been named Team Defensive MVP, Team Offensive Play of the Year, selected as All-District in 2019 and 2020, 1st Team All-State in 2020, and Academic All-State in both 2019 and 2020.  He is a member of the National Honor Society and serves the community through the Young Men’s Service League. He will join the O-Line at Hardin Simmons University, which he selected for its strong academic curriculum and reputation as an excellent football program within NCAA Division III.
