We all experience “big emotions” at one time or another, and our kids are no exception. Does
any of this sound familiar?
- Your 2nd-grade son cries and breaks down during a busy family event, unable to manage the
sensory overload - Your disappointed teenager slams his door and yells after losing a big game
- Your little girl clings to you and refuses to go to bed due to nightmares
- Your 6th-grade daughter lashes out at a friend after a disagreement…
Big emotions are a part of life.
Equipping our children with tools to manage their big emotions—as opposed to being swept up
by them, or avoiding and denying them—is a gift they will use all of their lives. Are you being
intentional about teaching your children these important life skills of coping and resilience?
